Limbic is hiring a Senior Full-stack Engineer to build patient- and clinician-facing mental-health technology used in regulated clinical settings. The role owns end-to-end delivery across TypeScript/Node.js backend services, React interfaces, MongoDB/PostgreSQL data layers, and integrations with ML/AI services. The engineer will help shape product decisions, measure user impact, uphold security and data-residency requirements, and collaborate closely with a distributed team. Candidates need at least four years of professional full-stack experience, strong production experience with TypeScript, Node.js, React, AWS, CI/CD, and databases, plus availability during North American business hours with European overlap.

Sample interview questions
I would explain the user problem, the feature scope, my backend and frontend contributions, and the metrics used to evaluate results. For example, I would cite adoption, task-completion, conversion, error-rate, or support-volume changes and describe how I iterated after launch.
I would start with data classification, least-privilege access, encryption in transit and at rest, audit logging, retention controls, and regional data-residency requirements. I would also use clear service boundaries, validated inputs, secure secret management, monitoring, and privacy/security review before release.
I validate the underlying user problem, expected outcome, risks, implementation cost, and available evidence. If the proposed solution is unlikely to help users or creates avoidable risk, I present an alternative supported by data, prototypes, or a small experiment.
I define explicit input and output contracts, add authentication and observability, and design graceful fallbacks for service failures. For a clinical workflow, I would also include safety guardrails, human-review boundaries where appropriate, evaluation criteria, and monitoring for quality regressions.
I break work into small deployable increments, align early on acceptance criteria, and use automated tests, code review, CI/CD checks, feature flags, and monitoring. I communicate progress and tradeoffs clearly in writing and maintain predictable overlap for decisions that need synchronous collaboration.

We’re seeking a Senior Full-stack Engineer who’s motivated by seeing their work change outcomes for real people. You’ll ship features end-to-end that patients and clinicians depend on every day — and you’ll be expected to care about why you’re building something, not just how. If you’ve ever pushed back on a ticket because you didn’t think it served users, or shipped something and then chased down the data to see if it actually worked, this is your kind of team.
What you’ll do
Design, build, and ship full-stack features end-to-end, including:
Implementing TypeScript/Node.js backend services compliant with data residency and regulatory standards
Building React user interfaces for both patient-facing and clinician-facing products
Modeling and handling application data (MongoDB, PostgreSQL) using regulatory compliance best practices
Integrating features with ML/AI services and safety guardrails
Shape what gets built, not just how — contribute to product decisions, challenge requirements when they don’t serve users, and measure the impact of what you ship
Treat security, data residency, and compliance as first-class concerns given our patient/clinical data context
Collaborate and demonstrate ownership in a cross-functional team to integrate features smoothly and swiftly into a product
Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards
Triage incoming alerts for collaborative error monitoring
Participate in periodic “SideQuest” hackathon days

Requirements
4+ years of professional full-stack engineering experience
North American business hours (Eastern time preferred, for better European overlap). Maintain daily overlap with colleagues in Europe (UTC to UTC+3).

A track record of shipping features with measurable user impact — you can tell us what you built, why it mattered, and how you knew it worked
Strong TypeScript and Node.js ability (GraphQL and tRPC familiarity preferred)
Solid React experience building production web applications
Experience with databases — should be comfortable with PostgreSQL as well as document databases and KV stores
Experience using AWS services in production and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions)
Proficiency with Git
Experience with queue-based systems (BullMQ + Redis) is a bonus
Experience working in a regulated or security-sensitive environment (healthcare, fintech, etc.) is a bonus
Experience with React Native is a bonus
