About this role.
This is a senior individual-contributor product management role focused on Smart Data Products within a data intelligence platform. The role owns product strategy, roadmap development, discovery-to-adoption lifecycle execution, and the delivery of AI-agent-enabled data experiences. It requires deep familiarity with enterprise SaaS, modern data stacks, data governance, data catalogs, and cross-functional agile delivery. The Product Manager will work closely with engineering, design, go-to-market, sales, and customer-success teams while communicating with both executives and technical users.

Sample interview questions
I would begin by defining the target users, highest-value jobs to be done, business outcomes, and measurable success criteria. I would validate assumptions through customer research and data, break the vision into outcome-oriented themes, and prioritize initiatives using customer value, strategic alignment, feasibility, risk, and time-to-value. I would then align the roadmap with engineering and go-to-market partners and revisit priorities as evidence changes.
I would establish clear trust requirements covering data access controls, provenance, accuracy, explainability, auditability, and safe failure behavior. I would partner with engineering, security, and governance stakeholders to define evaluation datasets, quality thresholds, human-review paths, and monitoring for production performance. Trust would be treated as a product capability with visible user controls, not only as a technical compliance requirement.
I would separate discovery work from committed delivery while keeping both connected to a common product strategy. For early concepts, I would use prototypes, design partners, and measurable experiments to reduce uncertainty before scaling investment. For existing customers, I would maintain transparent release planning, communicate trade-offs early, and use adoption and retention signals to ensure innovation does not compromise core reliability.
I would use a balanced set of metrics: activation and adoption, repeat usage, time to discover or access trusted data, task completion rate, data-product quality, user satisfaction, and expansion or retention impact. For AI-agent interactions, I would also monitor answer quality, grounded-response rate, escalation rate, and policy-compliance outcomes. The final metric set would be tied to the specific user problem and business objective.
I make the decision criteria explicit and ground discussion in customer evidence, strategic goals, delivery constraints, and expected impact. I ensure each group is heard, document the trade-offs, and distinguish reversible decisions from high-cost commitments. Once a decision is made, I communicate the rationale and success measures clearly so teams can execute with shared context.

We are looking for a visionary Senior Product Manager to lead the next generation of Smart Data Products within our ecosystem. You will be at the forefront of a new way of interacting with data through reliable and trustworthy AI agents, providing innovative interactions between users and information. Using Actian’s Data Intelligence Platform as our core platform, you will bridge the gap between high-level strategic vision and agile technical execution. This is a fully remote, senior individual contributor role with high strategic visibility.
What You’ll Do
Translate the CPTO’s strategic vision into a concrete, scalable Data Product roadmap. You’ll pair strong product instincts with data-informed decision making to deliver results.

Ability to debate strategic inputs and then dive into the concrete inputs for engineering at ground level.
Skilled at translating customer and stakeholder needs into innovative product features.
Track record of shipping enterprise-grade SaaS features from ideation through scale.
Able to balance short-term execution with long-term vision.
Customer-driven and passionate about customer success.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
