Sample interview questions
How would you design a resilient HRIS-to-finance API synchronization service?

I would define a clear data contract and use incremental synchronization with durable checkpoints. The service would implement pagination, rate-limit handling, exponential-backoff retries, idempotency keys, validation, dead-letter handling, audit logs, and alerts for failed or delayed records.

How have you secured service-to-service integrations in Azure?

I use managed identities where supported to avoid stored credentials, assign least-privilege RBAC roles, and use Microsoft Entra ID with OAuth 2.0 for delegated or application API access. I store unavoidable secrets in Azure Key Vault, rotate them, and ensure logs never expose tokens or sensitive employee data.

What Terraform practices would you use for Azure integration infrastructure?

I would structure reusable modules for shared resources, keep remote state secured with controlled access, and run formatting, validation, plans, and policy checks in CI. Changes should be peer-reviewed, environment-specific values should be separated cleanly, and production applies should be controlled through an approval workflow.

How would you investigate a production alert for an integration that has stopped updating records?

I would first assess impact and examine Application Insights, service logs, queue metrics, and recent deployments. I would trace a representative transaction through authentication, source API responses, transformations, and destination writes, mitigate safely through retry or rollback if appropriate, then document root cause and add preventive monitoring or tests.

How do you prevent harmful mass changes when integrating employee data?

I would enforce schema and business-rule validation, use dry-run and approval mechanisms for high-impact changes, and limit batch sizes. I would also maintain immutable audit trails, apply role-based access controls, support reconciliation reports, and provide a tested rollback or compensating-action process.
