Sample interview questions
How would you structure a technical discovery call with an enterprise prospect evaluating Chainguard?

I would begin by establishing the prospect's business objectives, current software supply-chain risks, and desired outcomes. I would then map their development, CI/CD, container, and cloud environment; identify decision criteria and stakeholders; and confirm measurable success criteria for a potential POV. I would summarize the findings, validate priorities, and agree on technical next steps tied to the buying process.

Describe how you would run a proof of value for a container-security solution.

I would jointly define scope, success metrics, timeline, owners, and required access before beginning. The POV would focus on a representative workload and demonstrate how hardened images improve vulnerability posture, compliance, and developer workflow without creating operational friction. I would hold regular checkpoints, document results against the agreed criteria, and finish with a clear recommendation and implementation path.

How do you explain container image hardening to both a security leader and a platform engineering team?

For a security leader, I would emphasize reduced attack surface, fewer vulnerabilities, policy alignment, and improved auditability. For platform engineering, I would demonstrate practical integration with existing Kubernetes and CI/CD workflows, image compatibility, and the operational benefits of reliable production-ready artifacts. In both cases, I would connect technical capabilities to their specific risk and delivery goals.

What is your approach when a customer requests a feature that is not currently available?

I would first clarify the underlying use case, business impact, and whether an existing workflow or integration can address the need. If a product gap remains, I would document requirements precisely, assess urgency and opportunity impact with the account team, and partner with product and engineering through the appropriate feedback process. I would be transparent with the customer about commitments and timelines while continuing to advance viable solution options.

How have you used a qualification framework such as MEDDPICC in a technical sales cycle?

I use the framework to ensure technical activity supports a qualified commercial opportunity rather than becoming an unbounded evaluation. I help validate metrics, identify technical and economic stakeholders, understand decision criteria and process, surface pain, and support an internal champion with a compelling technical case. This keeps demos, POVs, and architecture discussions aligned to the customer's path to decision.
