About this role.

AI Summary

Webflow is hiring a senior backend/platform engineer to build developer-productivity foundations for a next-generation monorepo. The role centers on Nest.js and TypeScript service scaffolding, generators, paved paths, and migrations from a coupled monolith into independently deployable services. It also requires ownership of deployment workflows spanning Cloudflare, AWS, Kubernetes, Pulumi, and Argo CD. The engineer will work closely with product teams as internal platform customers and turn migration lessons into repeatable tooling and agent-assisted workflows. This is a permanent, remote-first role for candidates in Argentina with at least five years of production backend-service experience.

Core skills

Sample interview questions
Describe a time you extracted a service from a tightly coupled monolith. How did you preserve behavior during the migration?

I would first identify a stable boundary around the capability, document its existing contracts and edge cases, and introduce an adapter or facade that preserves current behavior. I would migrate incrementally behind feature flags, validate outputs with contract and regression testing, and use production telemetry to compare behavior before expanding rollout.

How would you design a service generator for a large TypeScript monorepo?

I would start by interviewing internal teams to understand the minimum viable service experience and recurring setup friction. The generator would create standardized service structure, ownership metadata, testing, observability, configuration, CI integration, deployment manifests, and local-development defaults, while validating generated output in an end-to-end fixture repository.

What makes a monorepo build graph correct, and why does it matter to product teams?

A correct build graph accurately represents dependencies, inputs, outputs, and cache invalidation so that only necessary work runs and changes are reliably detected. Product teams experience graph correctness as fast, trustworthy feedback; an incorrect graph can produce stale artifacts, hidden breakages, and slow delivery.

How would you decide whether a workload should run on Cloudflare, AWS, or Kubernetes?

I would evaluate runtime constraints, latency requirements, data locality, networking dependencies, operational maturity, cost, and observability needs. Edge workloads that benefit from low-latency request handling may fit Cloudflare, while stateful or specialized workloads may belong in AWS or Kubernetes; I would explicitly account for cross-cloud failure modes and data-transfer costs.

How do you measure whether an internal developer platform is successful?

I would combine adoption and experience metrics: percentage of eligible services using the paved path, time to create and deploy a service, migration lead time, build reliability, support volume, and developer feedback. I would use those measures to prioritize the highest-friction areas rather than assuming a platform is successful because it was technically delivered.

Webflow is the agentic web marketing platform for modern marketing teams, helping organizations build, manage, and optimize high-performing web experiences that drive predictable growth and strengthen brand trust. Building at Webflow will need grit, because we move fast, without ever sacrificing craft or quality.

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us build the next generation of Agentic Codebases

About the role:

  • Location: Remote-first (Argentina)
  • Permanent, full-time employee (this is not a contractor position)
  • Application Information:
  • Application deadline: applications accepted on an ongoing basis until position is closed and filled
  • This posting is for an existing vacancy
  • Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, Developer Productivity

As a Senior Software Engineer, Developer Productivity, you’ll:

  • Design and build the Nest.js service scaffolding that lets product teams stand up new backend services in our next-generation monorepo
  • Implement paved paths, generators, and the platform primitives that make a new service work on day one rather than after a week of wiring.
  • Build the seams that let new services run independently of our existing monolith.
  • Own the deployment story for services and web applications on Cloudflare, and the interoperability with our existing AWS and Kubernetes estate managed through Pulumi and Argo CD.
  • Lead migrations of substantial codebases into the monorepo and turn each one into a repeatable recipe rather than a bespoke effort.
  • Partner directly with product teams as platform customers, treating their adoption as the measure of success and their friction as your backlog.
  • Raise the leverage of the whole team by encoding what you learn into tooling, generators and agent-assisted workflows, so the next migration costs less than the last.
  • Participate in engineering citizenship activities such as co-authoring engineering blogs, strengthening our hiring processes, and leading internal hackathon teams.

About you

Requirements:

  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years building and operating backend services in production
  • Demonstrated experience in backend service design defining service boundaries, contracts and data ownership, not only implementing within them
  • Business-level fluency to read, write and speak in English

You’ll thrive as a Senior Software Engineer, Developer Productivity, if you:

  • Have worked inside a large, heavily-coupled codebase and found the seams: extracting or bypassing functionality incrementally, behind behaviour-preserving contracts
  • Are fluent in TypeScript and Node, and comfortable with edge runtimes.
  • Have hands-on experience with monorepo tooling at scale (Nx, Turborepo or similar) and understand why build-graph correctness is a product concern rather than a config detail.
  • Treat migration work as engineering rather than chores: you budget for the parts that fail silently, verify generated output rather than trusting a green build, and know that bug-for-bug translation beats improvement when the goal is proving nothing changed.
  • Enjoy being a platform engineer with real customers — partnering with product teams, adapting the platform to how they actually work rather than requiring them to change, and measuring yourself on their adoption.
  • Are comfortable working across cloud boundaries, with a considered view on where a workload belongs and what crossing between clouds costs in latency and spend.
  • Communicate decisions in writing well enough that someone can pick up your work from the ticket — and are willing to say plainly when the fast answer and the right answer diverge.
  • Stay curious and open to growth — demonstrating a proactive embrace of AI, and actively building and applying fluency in emerging technologies to elevate how we work, drive faster outcomes, and expand collective impact.

Our Core Behaviors:

  • Build lasting customer trust. We build trust by taking action that puts customer trust first.
  • Win together. We play to win, and we win as one team. Success at Webflow isn’t a solo act.
  • Reinvent ourselves. We don’t just improve what exists, we imagine what’s possible.
  • Own it all the way. We move fast because the moment demands it, and we hold ourselves accountable to deliver outcomes — for each other, and for customers.

Benefits

  • Ownership in what you help build. Every permanent Webflower receives equity (RSUs) in our growing, privately held company.
  • Health coverage that actually covers you. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans for full-time employees and their dependents, with Webflow covering most premiums.
  • Support for every stage of family life. 12 weeks of paid parental leave for all parents and 6+ weeks of additional paid leave for birthing parents. Plus inclusive care for family planning, menopause, and midlife transitions.
  • Time off that’s actually off. Flexible vacation, paid holidays, and a sabbatical program to help you recharge and come back inspired.
  • Wellness for the whole you. Access to mental health resources, therapy and coaching.
  • Invest in your future. A 401(k) with 100% employer match (up to $6,000/year) in the U.S., and support for retirement savings globally.
  • Monthly stipends that flex with your life. Localized support for work and wellness expenses — from Wi-Fi to workouts.
  • Bonus for building together. All full-time, permanent, non-commission employees are eligible for our annual WIN bonus program.

Temporary employees may be eligible for paid holiday and time off, statutory leaves of absence, and company-sponsored medical benefits depending on their Fixed Term Contract and their country/state of employment.
