The role, at a glance.
This is a senior, technical post-sales Customer Success Engineer role supporting enterprise customers using Cribl’s telemetry and observability platform. The CSE owns the customer success lifecycle from onboarding through adoption, value realization, retention, and expansion. The role requires strong knowledge of logs, metrics, IT operations, security, data pipelines, and related platforms such as Splunk, Elastic, Datadog, and Snowflake. Success depends on pairing hands-on technical credibility with executive-level relationship management, data-driven customer engagement, and effective cross-functional collaboration. The position is remote within Australia, with Sydney specifically preferred, and may occasionally require work outside normal hours across time zones.

Sample interview questions
I would begin by aligning with technical and executive stakeholders on their business outcomes, current telemetry architecture, success metrics, and implementation risks. I would translate those goals into a phased plan covering onboarding, priority use cases, adoption milestones, governance, and recurring value reviews. I would use product-usage and health data to monitor progress, remove blockers early, and continually identify opportunities to extend value.
I would review usage trends, data volumes, customer objectives, support patterns, and stakeholder feedback to identify unmet needs. For example, a customer initially routing logs may have an opportunity to reduce costs, enrich security events, onboard additional teams, or extend pipelines to metrics and new data sources. I would validate the use case technically and economically, build stakeholder alignment, and partner with account teams on an outcome-based expansion plan.
I would avoid leading with platform features and instead frame the discussion around outcomes: lower data-management costs, faster access to reliable operational and security insights, reduced engineering effort, and greater flexibility across analytics tools. I would quantify the current challenge where possible and connect the proposed workflow to agreed KPIs, risk reduction, and time-to-value.
I would first diagnose whether the barrier is technical configuration, unclear ownership, skills gaps, competing priorities, or a mismatch between the original use case and current needs. I would create a recovery plan with explicit owners, near-term technical milestones, enablement resources, and executive checkpoints. Frequent transparent communication and measurable progress indicators are essential to rebuilding confidence and restoring momentum.
I establish a shared view of the customer’s goals, technical context, risks, and next actions, then bring in each team with a clear purpose and owner. I communicate customer evidence rather than assumptions, maintain a concise action log, and ensure commitments are followed through. This approach lets me serve as the voice of the customer while preserving strong internal alignment.
