Sample interview questions
I would first combine usage, support, commercial, and stakeholder data to identify the drivers behind declining engagement and quantify the risk. I would align with Customer Success and Solutions Architecture on a recovery plan, validate priorities with executive sponsors, and create a mutual action plan tied to measurable business outcomes. From there, I would sequence adoption milestones before pursuing expansion, ensuring the customer sees clear value at each stage.
I map the buying committee early, including economic buyer, technical evaluators, operational owners, legal, and procurement stakeholders. I tailor value messages to each group, establish a mutual close plan with dates and owners, and run regular internal deal reviews to resolve risks quickly. This approach keeps technical validation, commercial alignment, and executive sponsorship moving in parallel rather than sequentially.
I would acknowledge cost discipline while broadening the discussion to total economic impact. I would assess authorization performance, conversion, fraud, operational overhead, international expansion requirements, and the opportunity cost of fragmented payment infrastructure. I would then build a transparent financial model that connects Stripe capabilities to measurable revenue protection, efficiency, and growth outcomes.
I treat churn prevention as an ongoing account-management discipline, not a last-minute renewal activity. I establish success metrics and executive relationships early, monitor usage and sentiment signals, and surface risks through regular account reviews with internal partners. When risk appears, I create a direct remediation plan with the customer, clarify ownership and timelines, and ensure leadership engagement where it can accelerate resolution.
I invest time in understanding the product architecture, integration patterns, payment flows, and the customer’s operating model so I can ask informed questions and connect capabilities to business needs. I do not try to replace specialists; instead, I bring Solutions Architects in at the right moments with a clear problem statement and desired outcome. My role is to translate technical detail into a compelling commercial case while keeping all stakeholders aligned.
