Sample interview questions
Describe a machine learning model you moved from exploration into a production-ready workflow.

I would explain the business objective, data preparation, feature design, model selection, and evaluation metrics, then describe how I packaged the workflow into reusable code. I would also cover monitoring, validation, documentation, and how I ensured stakeholders could use the output confidently.

How would you approach identifying meaningful behavioral patterns among healthcare professionals from a large platform dataset?

I would first clarify the commercial or client decision the analysis should support, define the relevant population and outcomes, and assess data quality. I would use exploratory analysis and segmentation or classification methods, validate findings with appropriate statistical tests, and communicate the resulting patterns with clear visualizations and practical recommendations.

Tell us about a time you translated a complex technical result for a nontechnical client or commercial stakeholder.

I would start with the stakeholder's decision and present the key conclusion before discussing methodology. I would use simple visuals, explain uncertainty and limitations plainly, and connect each insight to a recommended action, confirming that the audience understood the implications.

What practices do you use to optimize complex SQL queries on high-volume, multi-table datasets?

I review the query plan, restrict data early, select only required columns, use appropriate joins and aggregations, and verify partitioning or indexing strategies where available. I also test query logic on smaller samples, check for duplicate-generating joins, and document assumptions so results remain reproducible.

How would you evaluate whether a client-facing analysis or model is reliable enough to deliver?

I would validate source-data quality, test assumptions, use holdout or cross-validation methods where appropriate, and compare results against baseline approaches and domain expectations. Before delivery, I would perform peer review, quantify uncertainty, document limitations, and ensure recommendations remain supported by the evidence.
