Sample interview questions
How have you structured a production Android application to remain scalable as features and teams grow?

I use a clear layered architecture, typically separating presentation, domain, and data concerns, with well-defined interfaces and dependency injection. I organize features into modules where appropriate, keep business rules independent of Android framework code, and establish conventions for state management, navigation, error handling, and testing.

Describe your approach to integrating an Android application with AWS-backed services.

I start by clarifying authentication, API contracts, security requirements, offline behavior, observability, and failure modes. I implement resilient networking with typed models and centralized error handling, securely manage credentials or tokens, and work with backend teams to validate API behavior across development, staging, and production.

What would you include in a CI/CD pipeline for a native Android application?

A robust pipeline should run formatting and static analysis, unit tests, build validation, dependency and security checks, and instrumentation or UI tests where feasible. It should produce signed artifacts through protected release stages, manage environment-specific configuration safely, and provide clear reporting so failures can be diagnosed quickly.

How do you investigate a crash or performance issue reported in production?

I first assess impact and use crash reports, logs, traces, release metadata, and device or OS distribution to reproduce and isolate the issue. After identifying the likely cause, I prioritize a safe fix, add regression coverage, validate it in staging, monitor the release, and communicate status and risk clearly to stakeholders.

How do you explain a technical trade-off to a non-mobile customer stakeholder?

I frame the decision around user impact, delivery time, reliability, cost, and future maintainability rather than implementation details alone. I present practical options, identify the risks and recommendation, and confirm that the stakeholder understands what is gained or deferred before moving forward.
