The role, at a glance.

The Associate Director will manage campaign architecture, forecasting, budgets, testing, and optimization across Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, and SA360. Sample interview questions
I would separate campaigns around meaningful product, persona, intent, and geographic distinctions while keeping volume sufficient for reliable optimization. I would map keywords and ads to the appropriate buying-stage content, establish shared naming and tracking standards, and use CRM feedback to evaluate performance by pipeline stage rather than only by lead volume.
I would first audit lead-source fields, campaign identifiers, conversion definitions, and handoffs between ad platforms, forms, analytics, and the CRM. I would create a prioritized remediation plan with the client, use the most trustworthy available proxy metrics in the interim, and clearly communicate the limitations of any optimization decisions until offline conversion data is reliable.
I compare cost per lead with downstream quality metrics such as qualification rate, opportunity creation, pipeline value, win rate, and revenue. If lower-cost leads consistently fail to progress through the funnel, I would shift budget toward sources that produce stronger pipeline efficiency even if their top-of-funnel cost is higher.
I would acknowledge their business context, clearly explain the data and assumptions supporting my recommendation, and connect the discussion to agreed business outcomes such as pipeline or revenue. If uncertainty remains, I would propose a controlled test with success criteria, decision dates, and transparent reporting rather than treating the disagreement as purely subjective.
I set clear quality standards, delegate work with defined outcomes, and use recurring reviews to provide specific feedback on both technical execution and strategic thinking. I also create opportunities for team members to own portions of analyses or client-readout preparation while retaining final accountability for account quality and client guidance.
About this role.
The Role
Wpromote’s B2B Paid Search team is growing, and we’re hiring an Associate Director to own paid search strategy and execution for a portfolio of B2B clients across Google Ads and Microsoft Ads.
This is a senior individual contributor role. You’ll carry a book of 3-5 accounts, be the person clients call when something matters, and be hands-on in the platforms. You’ll also mentor the analysts and managers who support your accounts, but you won’t have direct reports. If you want a role where you stop touching campaigns, this isn’t it.
Our clients are growth-stage and enterprise B2B companies with real complexity: long sales cycles, multiple buying committees, and revenue that shows up in a CRM weeks or months after the click. The people who do this well think in pipeline, not conversions.
At Wpromote, we believe that great work is only possible with great people. Our goal is to build a better, more inclusive work environment and support our people at every stage of their careers by prioritizing a strong work-life balance through our policies and benefits listed below. As a Best Place to Work according to both Ad Age and Glassdoor and Adweek’s Fastest Growing Digital Agency, we are moving fast to expand our teams and bring new experts into the fold to keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in marketing.
We offer:
-Remote-first culture
-Unlimited PTO
-Extended Holiday break (Winter)
-Flexible schedules
-Work from anywhere options*
-100% paid parental leave
-401(k) matching
-Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Pet Insurance
-Sponsored life insurance
-Short Term Disability insurance and additional voluntary insurance
-Annual Class Pass credits and more!
The anticipated annual salary for this role will range from $100,000 – $115,000, based on consideration of a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, education and certifications, competitive benchmarks, scope of responsibility, market dynamics, geographic location, and respective state’s salary threshold for exempt employees. The total compensation package for this role will include benefits (listed above).

You Will Be
- Owning paid search strategy and performance across your portfolio, including forecasting, budget planning, testing roadmaps, and developing quarterly points of view that inform client decision-making
- Leading campaign architecture and ongoing optimization across Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, and SA360, including bidding strategy, audience layering, and thoughtful use of automation
- Designing measurement strategies that connect paid search investment to pipeline, not just form fills, through offline conversion imports, CRM feedback loops, and lead quality scoring
- Using performance and measurement insights to identify opportunities and confidently advise clients when a lower-cost lead does not necessarily represent a better-quality lead
- Translating performance data and strategic insights into clear, actionable recommendations for senior client stakeholders, including navigating challenging conversations when needed
- Maintaining a high standard of work across accounts through proactive QA, account health reviews, and clear quality standards for the team supporting you
- Mentoring and coaching junior team members through regular feedback, guidance, and opportunities to build greater independence
- Partnering closely with Client Strategy, Analytics, and Creative to ensure paid search is integrated with the broader client program and business strategy
You Must Have
- 6+ years in paid search, with at least 3 running B2B programs where lead quality and pipeline were the accountability, not MQL volume
- Direct experience with B2B measurement infrastructure: Salesforce or HubSpot integration, offline conversion imports, lead scoring, and multi-touch or incrementality frameworks. You should be able to explain what you do when the CRM data is messy, because it usually is
- Depth in Google Ads and Microsoft Ads at the architecture level: how you’d structure an account for a business with three products, six personas, and a nine-month sales cycle
- Experience with SaaS, fintech, HR/payroll, or similarly considered-purchase B2B categories
- Strong analytical instincts and fluency in GA4 plus at least one enterprise analytics or BI platform
- The ability to hold a point of view with a senior client who disagrees, and to change it when the data says you should
- Comfort operating with ambiguity and competing priorities across multiple accounts
Nice to Have
- Agency experience, or experience managing an agency
- Familiarity with ABM and intent data platforms (6sense, Demandbase, or similar) and how they inform search targeting
- Experience mentoring or formally managing paid search talent
