The role, at a glance.
Cribl is seeking an experienced Facility Security Officer to establish and operate its industrial security program as its federal business expands. The role owns Facility Clearance (FCL) administration, cleared-personnel lifecycle processes, DCSA engagement, security briefings, DD Form 254 review, self-inspections, and readiness for DCSA Security Reviews. This is a senior compliance-focused industrial security position rather than a physical guard or general office-security role. Success requires an active Secret clearance, U.S. citizenship, deep NISPOM/32 CFR Part 117 knowledge, and the ability to advise distributed cross-functional stakeholders.

Sample interview questions
I would explain the scope of my appointment, the clearance level and size of the organization supported, and my direct accountability for FCL maintenance, personnel security, briefings, records, self-inspections, and DCSA communications. I would also provide a specific example of resolving a compliance issue while maintaining operational continuity.
I would begin by confirming sponsorship and business requirements, then create a documented implementation plan covering NISS filings, SF-328 and FOCI analysis, KMP designations, facility controls, policies, training, personnel workflows, and evidence retention. I would establish ownership with Legal, Contracts, IT, and Workplace early and track all readiness items through DCSA review.
I use documented workflows, access-controlled records, defined escalation paths, and routine reconciliations between HR, program leadership, and security systems. My process covers sponsorship, investigation tracking, continuous vetting, transfers, debriefings, terminations, and timely reporting of relevant changed conditions.
I conduct a structured self-inspection against applicable NISPOM requirements, validate records and training completion, interview process owners, and document corrective actions with owners and due dates. Before the review, I verify that FCL, personnel, visit, briefing, DD Form 254, and facility-control evidence is complete, current, and easy to produce.
I would translate the requirement into the business risk, the practical action required, the accountable owner, and the deadline. I would use concise written guidance, targeted training where needed, and follow-up checkpoints so teams understand both the compliance rationale and how to execute the required control.

Why You’ll Love This Role
Cribl is hiring a Facility Security Officer to build and manage our industrial security program as our federal business grows. You will serve as Cribl’s appointed FSO of record with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), own the Facility Clearance (FCL) program, and support compliance with the National Industrial Security Program and 32 CFR Part 117.
This is an industrial-security role—not a guard or general office-security position. You will partner with Legal, People Operations, Contracts, Public Sector Sales, IT, Workplace, and Security & Compliance.
We’re looking for a Sr Security & Compliance Engineer to join our team!
As An Active Member Of Our Team, You Will…
- Manage FCL sponsorship and maintenance in NISS, including SF-328, KMP designations, changed conditions, and FOCI reporting.
- Manage the cleared-personnel lifecycle in DISS/NBIS, including sponsorship, investigations, reinvestigations, continuous vetting, transfers, debriefings, and terminations.
- Guide applicants through eApp and maintain accurate, confidential personnel-security records.
- Deliver initial, annual, insider-threat, foreign-travel, and other required security briefings.
- Review and maintain DD Form 254s, process visit authorizations, and advise Contracts and Legal on security requirements before commitments are made.
- Conduct annual self-inspections, prepare required certifications and reports, maintain corrective actions, and lead preparation for DCSA Security Reviews.
- Serve as Cribl’s primary point of contact with DCSA and the trusted advisor to executives and cross-functional teams on government security requirements.
- Partner with Workplace and Facilities on access control, visitor management, secure-area requirements, and other facility controls applicable to cleared work.
- Establish and maintain security policies, procedures, records, and training programs.
- We are a remote-first company and work happens across many time-zones – you may be required to occasionally perform duties outside your standard working hours.
If You’ve Got It – We Want It
- U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. Government Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret.
- 7+ years of industrial- or personnel-security experience, including 3+ years as an appointed FSO or Assistant FSO at a cleared contractor.
- Working knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117 and the NISPOM.
- Hands-on experience with DISS/NBIS, NISS, eApp, FCL processing, SF-328/FOCI, DD Form 254s, self-inspections, and DCSA Security Reviews.
- Completion of the applicable DCSA/CDSE FSO curriculum through STEPP, or the ability to complete it within six months of appointment.
- Experience standing up a security program or taking a facility through an initial FCL.
- Strong writing, communication, organization, discretion, and judgment.
- Ability to work effectively across a distributed, remote-first organization.
- Preferred Skills
- Experience in a commercial software, SaaS, cloud, or technology company.
- SPēD or NCMS ISP® certification.
- Familiarity with ITPSO responsibilities, FedRAMP, CMMC, DFARS, or CUI requirements.
- Familiarity with Cribl products or observability technologies.
