Sample interview questions
How do you ensure accuracy when interpreting rapidly between English and Kurdish, Arabic, or Persian?

I listen for the speaker's full meaning, identify key facts and intent, and render the message faithfully without adding, omitting, or altering content. When clarification is necessary, I request it promptly and professionally before continuing.

How do you maintain confidentiality during remote interpretation sessions?

I follow applicable interpreter ethics and confidentiality protocols, work only from a private and secure location, use approved systems, and do not retain or discuss client information outside the session.

Describe how you would handle a caller who is upset or speaking over another participant.

I would remain calm and impartial, explain that I need one person to speak at a time to interpret accurately, and guide the conversation back to manageable segments. My focus would remain on preserving each speaker's intended message and maintaining a respectful tone.

What steps do you take to prepare your remote interpreting workspace and technology?

I verify my internet connection, headset, camera, platform access, and audio settings before availability begins. I also ensure the workspace is quiet, private, well lit, and free from interruptions so calls can be handled securely and professionally.

How do you handle terminology you do not recognize during a live interpretation?

I avoid guessing. I ask the speaker to repeat, spell, explain, or rephrase the term as appropriate, then interpret the clarification accurately while maintaining transparency with all parties.
