Sample interview questions
I would first assess the partner's service offerings, technical maturity, target customers, and strategic objectives. I would then define role-based learning paths, hands-on labs, certification goals, joint solution plays, and measurable milestones such as certified practitioners, completed proofs of value, and customer deployments. Regular business reviews would be used to refine the plan based on adoption and delivery outcomes.
I would connect observability to migration risk reduction and operational readiness. This includes establishing baseline metrics before migration, instrumenting applications and infrastructure during the transition, building service dashboards and SLOs, and using traces, logs, and metrics to identify regressions quickly. The outcome is a more controlled migration with faster troubleshooting and clearer evidence of service health.
I would clarify the business impact, technical reproduction steps, affected use case, and desired outcome with the partner. I would coordinate the appropriate Datadog support, product, or engineering stakeholders, communicate realistic next steps, and provide workable mitigations where available. I would also document the pattern so it can inform product prioritization and future partner guidance.
I would begin by agreeing on a narrow set of high-value use cases, success criteria, stakeholders, timeline, and data sources. I would configure instrumentation and dashboards that demonstrate measurable outcomes, such as reduced mean time to resolution, faster root-cause identification, or improved visibility into a critical service. At the end, I would present results against the agreed criteria and recommend a practical adoption roadmap.
For engineers, I focus on architecture, instrumentation, workflows, integrations, and troubleshooting detail. For executive stakeholders, I translate those capabilities into business outcomes such as resilience, delivery speed, operational efficiency, and customer experience. In both cases, I validate understanding and tailor the discussion to the audience's goals and decisions.
