Sample interview questions
I would complete a structured psychiatric assessment covering diagnosis, symptom severity, prior treatments, current medication, substance-use history, physical health, risk factors, and the patient’s goals. I would review the available evidence and contraindications, discuss realistic benefits and risks, obtain informed consent, and document a clear monitoring and review plan.
I use a consistent telehealth assessment process, verify patient identity and location, review relevant clinical records and medication history, and document decision-making clearly. I also establish escalation routes for safeguarding, acute risk, adverse effects, and communication with the wider clinical team or the patient’s usual care providers where appropriate.
I would explain the decision respectfully and transparently, including the clinical factors and safety considerations informing it. I would discuss suitable alternative treatment pathways, encourage continued engagement with their existing care team, and ensure the consultation record clearly reflects the assessment and recommendations.
I would follow agreed protocols, maintain accurate records, report adverse events promptly, and contribute complete, high-quality outcome data. I would also engage with audit, case discussion, training, and evidence reviews so that clinical practice remains safe, consistent, and responsive to new evidence.
I set clear expectations around roles, documentation, prescribing workflows, and escalation criteria. I value the clinical insight of nursing and pharmacy colleagues, communicate decisions promptly, and use structured handovers to ensure patients receive coordinated, safe follow-up care.
