Sample interview questions
How would you design the engagement and coverage model for a growing EMEA Solutions Architecture organization?

I would begin by segmenting customers by strategic value, technical complexity, and growth potential, then map specialist coverage against sales territories and workload types. I would establish clear account ownership, engagement thresholds, escalation paths, and shared metrics with Sales, while retaining flexibility to evolve the model as capacity and specialization increase.

Describe how you have developed senior Solutions Architects or Sales Engineers into future leaders.

I set explicit expectations across technical depth, customer influence, business judgment, and team contribution. I use regular coaching, structured account reviews, stretch leadership assignments, and measurable development plans, while creating opportunities for senior architects to mentor peers and lead cross-functional initiatives.

How would you engage a CIO or CTO evaluating GPU infrastructure for AI training and inference?

I would frame the conversation around business outcomes, workload requirements, economics, operational risk, and time to value. I would then connect those priorities to a technically credible architecture covering compute, networking, storage, orchestration, security, and operational support, supported by a phased validation plan and clear success metrics.

What metrics would you use to assess the effectiveness of a regional Solutions Architecture team?

I would balance commercial, customer, and organizational measures: technical win rate, influenced pipeline and revenue, proof-of-concept conversion, time to solution, customer adoption outcomes, sales-partner feedback, retention of key talent, and readiness of the leadership bench. Metrics should encourage quality customer outcomes rather than simply rewarding activity volume.

How do you maintain technical credibility while leading a distributed regional organization?

I stay close to strategic accounts, participate selectively in architecture and deal reviews, and maintain a regular learning cadence around the platform and market. I also rely on strong technical leaders, create forums for sharing field insights, and use customer feedback to ensure my leadership decisions remain grounded in real technical and commercial conditions.
