Sample interview questions
How have you identified and closed expansion opportunities within an existing customer portfolio?

I begin with account-health data, product utilization, stakeholder objectives, and upcoming business changes to identify likely value gaps. I validate the opportunity with discovery, build a quantified business case, align internal partners, and maintain a mutual action plan through commercial approval and close.

How would you partner with Customer Success Managers to improve GRR and NRR?

I would establish a regular account review cadence to assess adoption, risks, renewals, expansion signals, and stakeholder engagement. The CSM and I would agree on clear ownership, account plans, and next actions so customer outcomes, retention strategy, and commercial growth efforts reinforce one another.

What makes a revenue forecast reliable?

A reliable forecast is based on documented deal stages, verified customer timelines, identified decision-makers, clear next steps, and an honest assessment of risks. I keep CRM data current and distinguish committed opportunities from pipeline that still requires meaningful validation.

How do you lead a strategic QBR with a customer?

I tailor the QBR to the customer’s goals and use adoption, outcomes, risks, and relevant benchmarks to guide the discussion. I confirm priorities with executive stakeholders, demonstrate realized value, address blockers, and finish with an agreed plan that may include expansion recommendations when they solve a validated need.

Describe how you handle a renewal conversation that includes price sensitivity and a growth opportunity.

I first clarify the customer’s concerns, desired outcomes, budget process, and the value they have received. I then position renewal and growth options around measurable outcomes, collaborate internally on an appropriate commercial path, and avoid forcing expansion unless it directly supports the customer’s priorities.
