Sample interview questions
Describe a time you took an ambiguous executive priority and converted it into an actionable program.

I would explain how I clarified the desired outcome, identified the critical decisions and dependencies, created a workstream structure with named owners, and established a milestone cadence. I would quantify the resulting business impact and describe how I kept leadership informed without creating unnecessary reporting overhead.

How do you drive accountability across teams when you do not have direct authority?

I create alignment around an explicit shared outcome, decision rights, milestones, and measurable commitments. I use concise written communication, regular operating reviews, and transparent dependency tracking to surface risks early, while building trust through preparation and follow-through rather than escalation.

How would you prioritize several high-value initiatives requested by the Chairman?

I would assess each initiative against strategic impact, urgency, reversibility, resource requirements, dependency risk, and confidence in the underlying hypothesis. I would then present a clear recommendation, including tradeoffs and sequencing, so the Chairman can make an informed decision quickly.

Tell us about a complex cross-functional initiative that encountered resistance or misalignment.

I would describe identifying the root cause of the disagreement, separating facts from assumptions, and convening the right decision-makers around a structured set of options. I would emphasize how I documented decisions, reset ownership, and used measurable milestones to restore momentum.

What operating mechanisms would you establish in your first 90 days?

I would build a strategic initiative portfolio with clear objectives, owners, milestones, dependencies, decisions, and risk indicators. I would pair it with a lightweight executive review rhythm and standard program templates so teams can coordinate consistently while preserving speed and autonomy.

Opportunity details

About this role.

Own the white space. Operate with autonomy. Drive the programs that move the company.

We’re hiring a high-agency operator into the Office of the Chairman to drive Clover’s most important cross-functional initiatives from ambiguity to execution and results.

This is a rare role designed for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, systems design, and executional rigor. You’ll operate as a force-multiplier to the Chairman and executive team: orchestrating execution across organizational boundaries, defining innovative pilots, testing hypotheses, structuring problems that don’t yet have owners, and driving initiatives that directly shape Clover’s growth and operational leverage.

As a Chairman Programs Lead, you will:

  • Architect Strategic Programs: Translate high-level goals into MECE workstreams with clear interfaces, owners, and timelines.
  • Drive Execution with Chairman-Standard Rigor: Own initiatives from kickoff through outcomes. Set the pace. Maintain altitude and detail without losing either.
  • Align Stakeholders Across Levels and Functions: Influence without authority. Drive accountability through clarity, not escalation.
  • Translate Ambiguity Into Action: When no playbook exists, build one. When priorities are unclear, force rank them. When coordination breaks down, rebuild the system.
  • Collaborate Across Boundaries: Manage projects that touch internal teams and external partners — vendors, regulators, and strategic collaborators. Align internal readiness to external dependencies.

Success in this role looks like:

  • First 90 days: Quickly grasp Clover’s business model, establish key relationships, identify 2-3 high-priority initiatives, and implement a structured framework for tracking strategic projects.
  • First 6 months: Successfully drive multiple cross-functional initiatives to completion, develop systems improving operational efficiency, and establish yourself as a trusted Chairman advisor on strategic priorities.
  • First year: Create scalable coordination mechanisms that improve execution across teams, resolve strategic misalignments, and deliver measurable business impact on growth and operational leverage.

You should get in touch if:

  • You’ve had 3–10 years of experience at a top-tier consulting firm (e.g., McKinsey, Bain, BCG), in BizOps at a tech company, or in a high-trust internal strategy/Chief of Staff-type role.
  • You think in structured logic, write with precision, and speak in synthesized insights.
  • You’re not a deck-maker. You’re a system builder who wants to see the impact of your thinking play out in operations.
  • You’ve driven complex, multi-org initiatives to the finish line — not just advised on them.
  • You’re energized by ambiguity, allergic to bureaucracy, and motivated by direct proximity to decision-making and value creation.
  • You don’t need positional authority to lead. You earn trust and create alignment through clarity, quality, and velocity.
