Sample interview questions
How would you approach a virtual nutrition session with a member who has PCOS and is trying to conceive?

I would begin by understanding the member’s goals, medical history, current care team guidance, eating patterns, symptoms, and practical barriers. I would provide evidence-informed options focused on sustainable nutrition habits, metabolic health, and preparation for pregnancy, while clarifying that I am not diagnosing or replacing the member’s clinician. I would summarize actionable next steps and encourage coordination with the member’s OB-GYN, fertility specialist, or primary care provider as appropriate.

How do you maintain appropriate clinical boundaries when providing chat- and video-based nutrition guidance?

I clearly distinguish education and nutrition counseling from diagnosis, prescribing, and emergency care. I document relevant context, provide options rather than directives outside my scope, and refer members back to their treating clinicians whenever medical evaluation or treatment changes are needed. I also follow established escalation and privacy procedures consistently.

Describe how you stay current with nutrition guidance for pregnancy and reproductive health.

I regularly review peer-reviewed research, professional dietetics guidance, maternal-health recommendations, and updates from relevant clinical organizations. I evaluate new information for quality and applicability before incorporating it into counseling. I also value peer discussion, case review, and continuing education to ensure my practice remains current and safe.

A member is overwhelmed by conflicting nutrition advice online during pregnancy. How would you respond?

I would first acknowledge that conflicting information can be stressful, especially during pregnancy. Then I would identify the member’s specific concern, explain the evidence in clear and nonjudgmental language, and offer a few practical options aligned with their medical context and preferences. I would reinforce when their obstetric or medical team should be consulted for individualized medical decisions.

How would you contribute to quality improvement in a growing digital-health clinical program?

I would look for recurring member questions, documentation patterns, and opportunities to standardize evidence-based resources. I would participate actively in audits and feedback cycles, share insights with the clinical team, and help develop training or workflow improvements. My goal would be to improve consistency and safety while preserving a personalized member experience.
