Sample interview questions
I begin by confirming the reference, approximate production period, and visible condition, then assess originality of the dial, hands, bezel, bracelet, movement, and accompanying documentation. I compare recent realized auction results and current market supply, adjusting for condition, provenance, service history, rarity, and buyer demand before recommending an estimate and reserve approach.
I would clearly explain which details are missing and why they matter to buyer confidence, such as close-ups of the dial, caseback, serial or reference details, movement, and any service records. I would provide practical guidance for improving the submission and only approve it once the listing accurately represents the item and meets marketplace standards.
I would review sell-through data, reserve levels, estimates, timing, presentation quality, and comparable results. I would then recommend realistic reserve pricing, stronger photography and descriptions, and, where appropriate, different auction timing or lot grouping to align the offering with current demand.
I would first gather the listing information, images, communications, and any supporting documentation from both parties. I would assess the facts against the stated listing condition and marketplace standards, communicate neutrally and professionally, and recommend a fair resolution while escalating technical authentication questions when needed.
I monitor realized prices across major auction and trading platforms, follow dealer and collector networks, attend relevant fairs when possible, and track changes in availability and collector preferences. I use this ongoing market intelligence to refine valuations, identify desirable inventory, and advise sellers accurately.
