Sample interview questions
How would you assess whether cannabis-based medicine is appropriate for a patient with complex chronic pain?

I would complete a structured assessment of the pain condition, prior treatments and outcomes, medical and psychiatric history, current medicines, risks and contraindications, and the patient’s functional goals. I would explain the available evidence and uncertainties, discuss potential benefits and adverse effects, and make a shared, documented clinical decision with a clear monitoring plan.

How do you maintain patient safety when prescribing in an evolving area of medicine?

I use current guidance, a careful benefit-risk assessment, documented informed consent, and defined follow-up measures. I also monitor outcomes and adverse effects, review interactions and contraindications, escalate concerns appropriately, and contribute to governance processes so that practice remains evidence-led.

How would you work effectively with nurses and pharmacists in Montu’s multidisciplinary model?

I would establish clear responsibilities and communication pathways, ensuring pre-consultation information is complete and follow-up tasks are clinically aligned. I would remain available for questions and escalation while respecting each professional’s expertise, allowing the team to deliver safe and efficient continuity of care.

How would you manage a 15-minute remote consultation while maintaining high clinical standards?

I would review the available pre-consultation information in advance, use a focused but patient-centred consultation structure, and prioritise safety-critical questions and shared decision-making. I would document the rationale and plan clearly, then ensure appropriate follow-up, monitoring, and escalation arrangements are in place.

What value do clinical outcome data bring to this role?

Outcome data help evaluate treatment effectiveness, tolerability, safety, and functional improvement over time. I would support consistent collection and accurate reporting because it informs individual care decisions, strengthens governance, and contributes to the developing evidence base for CBMPs.
