Sample interview questions
Describe a complex fullstack feature you took from an ambiguous idea through production release.

I would explain how I clarified user and business goals, translated them into a technical design, identified frontend, API, data-model, and operational requirements, and delivered incrementally. I would also cover how I measured outcomes after launch and addressed reliability or usability issues.

How would you design a dependency-management workflow for a platform used by thousands of employees?

I would begin with core domain entities such as initiatives, work items, dependencies, owners, and status changes. I would design clear API contracts, transactional integrity where needed, efficient querying for dependency graphs, authorization controls, auditability, and observability, then validate the workflow with representative users before broad rollout.

How do you balance rapid delivery with long-term maintainability in a cross-functional product team?

I make trade-offs explicit by assessing user impact, risk, reversibility, operational cost, and future extensibility. I favor small, well-tested increments, document intentional shortcuts, and schedule follow-up work when technical debt is justified by near-term learning or delivery needs.

What practices do you use to maintain reliability for a service in an on-call rotation?

I use meaningful service-level indicators, structured logging, metrics, tracing, actionable alerts, runbooks, and tested rollback procedures. After incidents, I focus on blameless review, root-cause remediation, and improvements that reduce both recurrence and responder effort.

How do you use AI-assisted development tools while maintaining engineering quality?

I use them to accelerate exploration, boilerplate, test ideas, and documentation, but I remain responsible for validating correctness, security, performance, and fit with the existing architecture. I review generated output carefully, run tests, and rely on sound engineering judgment rather than accepting suggestions uncritically.
