Sample interview questions
How have you scaled a paid social channel while maintaining profitable unit economics?

I start with reliable event and revenue data, define target CPA and payback thresholds by cohort, and segment performance by audience, creative, placement, and campaign type. I scale only repeatable winners in controlled increments while monitoring marginal ROAS and payback rather than relying on platform-reported conversion volume alone.

Describe your approach to a structured creative-testing program.

I maintain a prioritized test backlog built around clear hypotheses, such as new hooks, offers, formats, or audience-message combinations. Each test has predefined success metrics, spend thresholds, and kill-or-scale rules; I document learnings so successful concepts can be iterated across channels.

What would you do if a major Meta account suddenly experienced a sharp decline in conversion quality?

I would first validate tracking, event quality, attribution settings, and any recent site, offer, creative, or campaign changes. I would then isolate the drop by campaign, audience, placement, and cohort, stabilize spend where necessary, and run focused recovery tests while communicating the diagnosis and next actions to stakeholders.

How do you protect ad-account health in a policy-sensitive vertical?

I build prevention into the workflow through creative and landing-page reviews, platform-specific policy checklists, documented approval patterns, and clear escalation procedures. I also maintain resilient account structures, monitor disapprovals closely, and use compliant appeal and recovery processes when restrictions occur.

How would you use Claude or automation in this position?

I would automate recurring reporting, campaign QA, creative naming checks, test documentation, and anomaly alerts so more time is spent on decisions and experimentation. Claude can also accelerate structured analysis, first drafts of test briefs, and synthesis of performance learnings, with human validation for all material decisions.

About The Role

This is a senior, hands-on media buying role with end-to-end ownership. You will own the whole acquisition process on Paid Social acquisition channels: strategy, account structure, bidding, budget allocation, creative testing, measurement, scaling and account health. You decide what to test, what to scale and what to cut, and you are accountable for the results. We need someone who has already run Paid Social Ads at scale, who knows how to grow profitably in a policy-sensitive niche, and who can operate independently on large budgets.

You will manage performance against real revenue data (CPA, FTD, ROAS, payback, player LTV and cohorts), not surface-level platform metrics. We also work AI-first, and we expect you to use Claude and automation to move faster.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the process end-to-end: take full ownership of acquisition across all paid social ad networks (TikTok, Meta, AppLovin, Snapchat, and more): planning, launch, optimization, scaling, reporting and documentation.

  • Scale spend profitably in the US market while holding payback, ROAS and CPA targets based on real revenue and player-value data.

  • Build and optimize account structure, conversion events, value-based bidding and budget allocation across paid social networks.

  • Decide budget allocation across acquisition channels and find new scaling levers: audiences, formats, placements, campaign types and additional channels.

  • Run a structured, high-velocity creative testing process with the creative team on all channels, with clear hypotheses and kill/scale rules.

  • Manage signal quality: conversion events, event value, deposit / purchase optimization, attribution.

  • Operate in a policy-sensitive niche: run in the US within each platform’s rules. Keep ads and handle disapprovals, appeals and restrictions, and build prevention-first processes so issues are caught before launch.

  • Protect account health: manage ad account structure, backups and recovery plans.

  • Work with reps on betas, new campaign types and escalations.

  • Diagnose drops and spikes quickly and act on them.

  • Document tests, learnings and playbooks, and use Claude and automation to speed up builds, QA, reporting and optimization.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on paid social / user acquisition experience.

  • Large-scale experience running acquisitions in the US market.

  • Proven experience working in policy-sensitive niches and keeping accounts healthy while scaling.

  • Strong hands-on Meta Ads experience scaling accounts profitably.

  • Hands-on AppLovin (AppLovin Ads / AXON) experience, scaling it as an acquisition channel.

  • Direct ownership of large budgets, ideally $1M+/month hands-on.

  • Strong understanding of unit economics: LTV, ROAS, payback windows, cohorts, high-value-user dynamics and value-based optimization.

  • Deep policy and account health experience: disapprovals, appeals, restrictions, ad account bans and how to recover and prevent them.

  • Strong creative testing discipline and measurement rigor.

  • Ownership mentality: you run channels end-to-end with minimal supervision and take responsibility for outcomes.
