Sample interview questions
I would model the offer lifecycle explicitly, with role-based access controls, validation at each state transition, and an approval flow for sensitive changes. Every create, update, approval, and publication action would generate immutable audit events containing actor, timestamp, before-and-after values, and correlation IDs.
I would define a schema around client use cases and implement resolvers that call the relevant gRPC services through well-defined adapters. To control latency and avoid N+1 queries, I would use batching and caching mechanisms such as DataLoader, set deadlines for downstream calls, and provide clear error mapping and observability.
I start by assessing locking and backward-compatibility risks, then use an expand-and-contract approach where possible. I deploy additive changes first, backfill data safely, release application changes that support both formats, validate metrics, and only then remove deprecated structures through a separate migration.
I use domain-oriented boundaries, reusable UI components, typed contracts, and clear separation between presentation, business logic, and data access. I also prioritize automated tests for business rules, documented architectural decisions, code reviews, and incremental refactoring to prevent complexity from accumulating.
I would first assess impact, inspect service health, logs, traces, and recent deployments, and communicate the incident status to stakeholders. After stabilizing the service through rollback, mitigation, or a safe manual procedure, I would identify the root cause, document the timeline, and ensure follow-up actions prevent recurrence.
