Sample interview questions
How do you build an account plan for a strategic enterprise customer in financial services?

I begin by mapping the customer’s business priorities, regulatory pressures, technology landscape, buying process, and key stakeholders. I then identify high-value use cases, mutual success outcomes, potential blockers, and an engagement plan with clear owners, milestones, and pipeline criteria.

Describe how you would run a complex sales cycle involving technical and business stakeholders.

I establish a shared discovery process that connects executive goals to technical requirements and measurable outcomes. I align solutions architects, customer success, and partners early, maintain a documented mutual action plan, and regularly validate decision criteria, timeline, risks, and executive sponsorship.

How would you position GitLab to a regulated financial-services organization?

I would focus on how an integrated DevSecOps platform can improve developer efficiency while strengthening security, governance, traceability, and operational consistency. I would tailor the value case to the institution’s transformation priorities, risk controls, and measurable delivery outcomes rather than leading with product features alone.

What practices help you maintain an accurate enterprise sales forecast?

I use objective stage-exit criteria, validate buyer commitment and next steps, confirm stakeholder alignment, and distinguish customer evidence from seller optimism. I review deal risks frequently, update close plans promptly, and communicate forecast changes transparently to leadership.

How do you work effectively with channel partners while retaining ownership of an enterprise opportunity?

I define a joint account strategy with clear roles, value exchange, communication cadence, and qualification standards. I keep the customer’s desired outcomes central, share relevant deal intelligence appropriately, and coordinate partner and internal resources so the buyer receives one coherent experience.
