Sample interview questions
How would you tailor a Harness demonstration for both an executive sponsor and a DevOps engineering team?

I would begin with discovery to identify business goals, delivery bottlenecks, technical architecture, and success criteria. For executives, I would lead with measurable outcomes such as release velocity, risk reduction, governance, and cloud-cost efficiency; for engineers, I would show the relevant workflow, integrations, policy controls, and implementation details. I would conclude with a mutually agreed technical validation plan.

Describe how you would handle a prospect experiencing an error during a proof of concept.

I would first clarify the error symptoms, environment, recent changes, logs, and business impact. I would reproduce or isolate the issue where possible, explain the findings clearly, and coordinate with support or engineering when escalation is needed. Throughout the process, I would maintain ownership of communication and keep the evaluation focused on agreed success criteria.

What role does Terraform play in a modern software delivery environment?

Terraform provides infrastructure as code, allowing teams to define, version, review, and consistently provision cloud resources. In a delivery platform conversation, I would position it as part of a governed workflow that can automate infrastructure changes, apply policy controls, and provide visibility across environments. The value is repeatability, reduced manual risk, and faster delivery.

How do you convert a customer technical requirement into a compelling value proposition?

I connect the requirement to its operational or business consequence before mapping it to a product capability. For example, a need for consistent deployment controls may translate into reduced release risk, audit readiness, and faster engineering throughput. I validate the expected outcome with the customer and use their own metrics to make the value proposition specific.

How would you collaborate with an account executive during a complex enterprise evaluation?

I would align early on account goals, stakeholders, qualification criteria, competitive context, and the division of responsibilities. I would own the technical discovery, demonstration, architecture discussions, and proof-of-value plan while keeping the account executive informed about risks and decision signals. Regular joint account reviews help ensure that technical validation supports the commercial path.
