Sample interview questions
How would you structure a technical discovery session with a prospective Harness customer?

I would begin by clarifying business goals, current delivery bottlenecks, success metrics, stakeholders, and timeline. I would then map their existing CI/CD, cloud, security, and governance workflows to the relevant Harness capabilities, identify technical risks, and agree on clear next steps for a tailored demonstration or proof of value.

Describe how you would tailor a Harness demo for both executives and DevOps engineers.

For executives, I would focus on measurable outcomes such as release velocity, risk reduction, governance, and cloud-cost efficiency. For engineers, I would demonstrate the practical workflow, integrations, automation, policy controls, and troubleshooting experience. I would connect both perspectives through the customer's specific use cases and success criteria.

How have you used Terraform or similar infrastructure automation tools in a customer-facing context?

I would explain how infrastructure as code supports repeatable, governed cloud provisioning and helps teams reduce manual errors. In a customer conversation, I would assess their existing Terraform workflow, demonstrate relevant integration points, and position automation in terms of faster delivery, consistency, and compliance.

What would you do if a customer encountered a technical issue during a live evaluation?

I would acknowledge the issue, quickly isolate whether it is related to configuration, environment, integration, or product behavior, and communicate the next diagnostic steps clearly. If it cannot be resolved immediately, I would document the impact, involve the appropriate technical resources, establish ownership and timing, and preserve customer confidence with transparent follow-through.

How do you translate customer feedback into actionable input for engineering teams?

I would capture the customer context, desired outcome, current workflow, business impact, technical details, and urgency rather than forwarding a vague request. I would validate the requirement with the customer, prioritize it with sales and product stakeholders, and provide engineering with reproducible information and clear acceptance criteria.
