Sample interview questions
How have you designed a lead lifecycle and routing process for an enterprise B2B sales organization?

I begin by aligning Marketing, Sales, and RevOps on clear stage definitions, qualification criteria, ownership, SLAs, and disqualification reasons. I then configure scoring and routing rules in the marketing automation platform and CRM, monitor conversion and response-time metrics, and refine the process using feedback from sellers and pipeline data.

Describe an attribution model you have implemented and how leaders used it to make decisions.

I have implemented multi-touch attribution that combines first-touch, lead-creation, opportunity-creation, and influence views. Rather than presenting a single absolute answer, I used the models together to show channel contribution, identify investment patterns, and inform budget allocation alongside pipeline quality and conversion metrics.

What steps would you take to improve data quality across HubSpot and Salesforce?

I would establish field governance, source-of-truth ownership, validation rules, enrichment standards, deduplication workflows, and regular data-quality monitoring. I would also audit integrations and campaign processes so that poor data is prevented at entry instead of only corrected after reporting is affected.

How would you evaluate a new marketing technology or AI-enabled workflow?

I would define the business problem, expected impact, users, implementation effort, total cost, security requirements, and integration implications before selecting a tool. I would run a controlled pilot with measurable success criteria, document the process, and scale only after validating adoption, data quality, and return on investment.

How do you communicate complex marketing performance data to executives and a board?

I focus on a concise narrative tied to business outcomes: pipeline, revenue influence, conversion, velocity, efficiency, and material risks or opportunities. I maintain transparent metric definitions and provide drill-down detail when needed, while keeping executive dashboards focused on decisions rather than operational noise.

  • Lead lifecycle: Design and maintain lifecycle stages, lead scoring, routing, and SLAs in partnership with Sales and RevOps.
  • Reporting and dashboards: Build trusted reporting on pipeline, conversion, velocity, and channel performance for the CMO, executive team, and board.
  • Attribution and ROI: Develop and maintain a multi-touch attribution model and marketing ROI reporting that inform budget decisions, and partner with RevOps on forecasting.
  • Data quality and compliance: Ensure data quality, enrichment, and deduplication, as well as compliance with privacy and consent requirements.
  • Campaign operations: Set standards for UTMs, campaign hierarchy, program setup, and QA. Partner with Finance on marketing budget tracking and planning.
  • Innovation: Evaluate and implement new tools and AI-enabled workflows that improve team efficiency.

What we’re looking for:

  • 7+ years in marketing operations, including 3+ years in B2B SaaS with enterprise sales cycles.
  • Deep hands-on expertise with a marketing automation platform (HubSpot or Marketo) and Salesforce.
  • Experience building attribution models and executive-level marketing dashboards.
  • Strong analytical skills and a systems mindset, with clear documentation and cross-functional collaboration.

You’ll really stand out if you have:

  • SQL and BI tool experience (Looker, Tableau, or similar).
  • Experience supporting ABM programs and intent data platforms (6sense, Demandbase).
  • Experience in a regulated industry with strict data-privacy requirements.
