Sample interview questions
How would you help a student determine which BS/MD programs are an appropriate fit?

I would assess the student's academic record, clinical exposure, research, service, extracurricular commitments, career goals, and preferences for program structure. I would then build a balanced list that considers selectivity, institutional fit, program requirements, geographic preferences, and the student's authentic strengths.

Describe your approach to coaching a personal statement while preserving the student's voice.

I begin by helping the student identify meaningful experiences and the reflection behind them rather than imposing a narrative. I provide structured feedback on clarity, specificity, organization, and alignment with the prompt, while ensuring all final ideas and language remain the student's own.

How do you manage several students with overlapping application deadlines?

I create individualized milestone plans with deadlines for school research, drafts, recommendations, activities lists, and interview practice. I use centralized tracking tools, conduct regular check-ins, and flag risks early so students can prioritize work before deadlines become urgent.

What admissions trends would you monitor for BS/MD and direct medical applicants?

I would monitor program openings and closures, eligibility criteria, testing policies, interview formats, essay prompts, cohort sizes, and any changes to medical-school linkage requirements. I would translate those developments into timely, practical guidance for each student's strategy.

How would you prepare a student for a BS/MD interview?

I would first explain the program's likely evaluation criteria, including maturity, motivation for medicine, communication, ethics, and understanding of the pathway. Then I would run realistic mock interviews, provide specific behavioral feedback, and help the student develop concise, authentic examples rather than scripted responses.
