Sample interview questions
How have you improved P&L performance across a multi-site healthcare operation?

I start by creating a clear operating baseline across revenue, margin, capacity, utilization, labor, and quality indicators. I then prioritize the few operational levers with the greatest financial and patient-impact potential, assign accountable owners, and review progress through a consistent operating cadence.

Describe a time you led results through teams that did not report directly to you.

I aligned partners around shared outcomes, transparent metrics, and specific commitments rather than relying on hierarchy. By making tradeoffs explicit, listening to functional constraints, and consistently following up on agreed actions, I built trust and improved execution.

How would you balance therapist supply, patient access, and contribution margin in a growing region?

I would use market-level demand and capacity data to identify shortages, underutilization, and retention risks. The plan would combine targeted therapist acquisition, improved onboarding and productivity, referral-demand management, and margin guardrails so growth remains sustainable.

What metrics would you use in weekly and monthly regional business reviews?

I would track referral volume, conversion, patient access time, completed visits, therapist capacity and retention, utilization, partner satisfaction, revenue, contribution margin, and forecast variance. Metrics would be segmented by market to reveal local constraints and enable timely corrective action.

How do you handle ambiguity when entering a new or underperforming market?

I quickly establish the facts through data, stakeholder interviews, and direct market observation, then define the most important hypotheses and near-term actions. I communicate what is known, what remains uncertain, and the decision criteria so teams can move forward without waiting for perfect information.
