Sample interview questions
How have you managed multiple large-scale experiential programs while maintaining quality and profitability?

I establish a portfolio operating cadence with clear program owners, milestone plans, budget-to-actual reviews, risk registers, and escalation thresholds. This creates consistent visibility across concurrent work while allowing production leads to make timely day-to-day decisions.

Describe your approach to managing a multi-million-dollar client retainer.

I begin with an annual roadmap that links client objectives to activation priorities, delivery milestones, staffing assumptions, and financial targets. I then review forecasts and scope changes regularly with account, finance, and client stakeholders so risks to budget, margin, or timing are addressed early.

How do you approach vendor negotiations for high-profile live events?

I define technical, service, schedule, and contingency requirements before comparing bids, rather than selecting solely on price. I negotiate transparent rate structures, service levels, cancellation terms, and long-term partnership value while protecting program quality and client commitments.

What steps do you take when an event program encounters a material production risk?

I quickly assess impact, likelihood, ownership, and available contingencies, then communicate a recommendation with trade-offs to the appropriate stakeholders. My priority is to protect safety, client trust, critical delivery milestones, and financial performance while documenting decisions and follow-up actions.

How do you develop executive producers and production leads?

I set clear decision rights and measurable expectations, provide regular coaching through live program reviews, and progressively delegate higher-complexity responsibilities. I also create opportunities for leaders to strengthen financial, client-facing, and people-management capabilities alongside production expertise.
