Sample interview questions
How would you design a buyer-focused demo for Grafana Cloud for an SRE leader?

I would start by identifying the SRE leader’s key outcomes, such as reducing mean time to resolution, controlling telemetry costs, and improving service reliability. I would build a narrative around a realistic incident, show how correlated metrics, logs, traces, and alerts accelerate diagnosis, and close with measurable operational value rather than a feature inventory.

Describe how you translate a complex technical capability into a compelling business message.

I begin with the technical mechanism and validate its practical impact with users or subject-matter experts. I then connect it to a buyer problem, such as reducing operational risk or engineering effort, and create a concise message supported by a concrete example, demo flow, and proof points.

How would you ensure sales engineers use consistent technical messaging?

I would create an enablement system that includes modular demo environments, recommended talk tracks, persona-specific value narratives, objection handling, and short video examples. I would also establish a feedback loop with sales engineers to identify gaps, update assets, and measure adoption.

What role can automation play in technical marketing content production?

Automation can standardize demo setup, keep environments current, generate reusable content variants, and reduce manual maintenance. I would use scripts, infrastructure-as-code, and AI-assisted workflows with human review to improve speed while protecting technical accuracy and message consistency.

How do you prepare for a live technical workshop with a mixed audience of practitioners and leaders?

I define the audience segments and desired decisions before creating the session. The workshop would balance hands-on technical credibility with clear business framing, use an interactive scenario, reserve time for questions, and provide follow-up resources tailored to both practitioners and decision-makers.

You may not meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If this role excites you, we’d love you to raise your hand for what could be a truly career-defining opportunity.

The Opportunity:

Grafana Labs is looking for a technically fluent engineer who loves building powerful demos, explaining complex systems clearly, and helping SRE and platform engineering leaders understand the value of our open approach to observability.

As Grafana’s offering shifts from dashboards to industry-leading agentic observability, our Product Marketing team is responsible for closing the gap between what our products can do and how customers understand that value. That means building clear, consistent positioning, enabling sellers with trustworthy technical narratives, and creating content that helps Platform Engineering teams quickly grasp why Grafana Cloud is the right choice for them.

As a Technical Product Marketer you will play a critical part in that transformation. You’ll be the hands-on engineer who brings our technical story to life for buyers, not just practitioners. You’ll build core demos, run technical workshops and webinars, and act as the technical bridge between our Product and Sales orgs. Your work will help SRE and platform engineering leaders evaluate Grafana with confidence, equip sales engineers with better tools and talk tracks, and ensure our technical value shows up clearly and consistently across the entire customer journey.

This is a unique chance to shape how Grafana tells its story as we evolve our positioning in the AI era, strengthen seller enablement, and build a repeatable system for communicating product value.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Build strategic, buyer-focused demos, videos, workshops, and webinars

  • Create and maintain polished, narrative-driven demos that highlight Grafana’s value for SRE and platform engineering leaders.
  • Record high-quality technical demo videos and walkthroughs in partnership with our video and content teams.
  • Lead webinars, workshops, and technical sessions designed for evaluators.
  • Teach customers not just how Grafana works, but why our approach is differentiated and valuable.
  • Use AI tools to generate variations, summaries, and reusable assets that scale technical content across channels.

Enable Solutions (Sales) Engineers with clear, consistent technical storytelling

  • Serve as PMM’s technical liaison to the SE org, ensuring consistent messaging and demo guidance.
  • Produce technical enablement assets, value-driven talk tracks, competitive narratives, and demo best practices.
  • Help SEs and sellers communicate Grafana’s story with clarity, confidence, and differentiation.

Collaborate with PMMs to drive technical buyer engagement across high-impact channels

  • Partner with PMMs to identify the most important buyer personas, problems, and technical messages, and help shape the content strategy needed to reach them.
  • Extend technical narratives into impactful buyer-facing channels including analyst briefings (Gartner, Forrester), industry forums, podcasts, conferences, and online technical communities.
  • Bring a technical perspective to PMM planning—helping ensure our content, campaigns, and enablement reflect the real challenges and priorities of SREs and engineering leaders.

Use automation & AI to scale technical content

  • Partner with software engineers to streamline demo setup, content workflows, and asset updates through workflows, agents, scripts, and AI-driven tools.
  • Use automation to make technical content more repeatable, discoverable, and scalable across teams.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • 5+ years in a technical role (solutions engineering, SRE, DevOps, backend engineering, technical PMM, or similar).
  • Interest and ability to travel to training and customer events 10-12 weeks per year.
  • Strong understanding of observability concepts and the needs of SRE/platform teams.
  • Ability to translate deep technical concepts into clear, value-focused stories.
  • Experience presenting technical content through demos, workshops, or webinars.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with a crisp, structured, persuasive style.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration; comfort working with PMM, Product, SEs, DevRel, and Field Engineering.
  • High ownership mindset with the ability to drive projects from concept to completion.
  • Comfort with light scripting or workflow automation.

Bonus Points For:

  • Hands-on experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Mimir, Tempo, or similar observability tools, or a background in Observability or Platform Engineering.
  • Prior experience in Sales Engineering, DevRel, or technical product marketing.
  • Familiarity with demo environment automation or infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Exceptional live presentation or workshop facilitation skills.

Compensation & Rewards:

In Sweden, the base compensation range for this role is SEK 878,578 – SEK 1,054,294. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed throughout the interview process. All of our roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), giving every team member ownership in Grafana Labs’ success.
