Sample interview questions
How do you prioritize monitoring findings when several issues are identified at a clinical site?

I assess each finding against patient safety, subject rights, data integrity, protocol impact, and regulatory risk. I address critical issues immediately, document the rationale and actions clearly, escalate when required, and establish a follow-up plan with the site and study team.

Describe how you would manage a site that is repeatedly late with data entry and query resolution.

I would first review the underlying trends and discuss root causes with the coordinator and investigator. I would agree on a realistic corrective action plan with specific milestones, provide focused guidance where needed, document the discussion, and escalate to the CTM if progress remains insufficient or trial timelines are at risk.

What are the key considerations when monitoring an oncology trial, particularly an early-phase study?

I focus closely on informed consent, eligibility confirmation, safety reporting, investigational product accountability, protocol-required assessments, dose modifications, and timely documentation of adverse events. In early-phase studies, rapid communication and careful review of safety and dose-escalation data are especially important.

How do you ensure that you remain compliant with ICH-GCP while working independently from home and travelling between sites?

I use structured monitoring plans, current study documents, visit preparation checklists, and timely follow-up documentation. I maintain clear communication with the CTM and study team, complete required training, and escalate uncertainties early so that decisions are documented and aligned with the protocol, SOPs, and applicable regulations.

Give an example of how you would raise a sensitive compliance issue with an investigator.

I would present the issue factually, explain its potential effect on participants, data, or regulatory compliance, and listen to the investigator's perspective. I would keep the discussion solution-oriented, agree on corrective actions and deadlines, document the outcome, and involve the CTM or appropriate functions if escalation is necessary.

Our CRAs work with a manageable study portfolio, allowing them to build deep protocol and site knowledge rather than spreading their focus across too many studies.
