Sample interview questions
I would map business priorities, software delivery challenges, stakeholders, existing tooling, and procurement dynamics. I would then define value hypotheses tied to measurable outcomes such as developer productivity, security risk reduction, and platform consolidation, with a mutual action plan for each buying group.
I create separate but connected value narratives for technical users, security leaders, platform owners, procurement, and executives. I maintain clear stakeholder ownership, validate decision criteria early, and bring solutions architects or executives into the process when their expertise can remove risk or accelerate consensus.
I would first quantify the operational and business impact of fragmentation, including handoffs, context switching, governance gaps, and integration costs. I would position GitLab as an integrated DevSecOps platform while validating the customer's required capabilities through relevant use cases, technical evaluation criteria, and an adoption plan.
I diagnose whether the issue is value, urgency, access, technical risk, commercial alignment, or internal consensus. I then re-engage the appropriate stakeholders with a specific next step, update the mutual action plan, and, if necessary, introduce executive sponsorship or a focused workshop to resolve the blocker.
I segment opportunities by strategic value, probability, timing, and required effort, then protect time for both pipeline creation and expansion execution. For existing customers, I partner closely with customer success and technical teams to identify adoption milestones and business events that create credible expansion opportunities.
