The role, at a glance.
CoderPad is hiring its first customer marketing leader to build and execute an end-to-end customer marketing function for mid-market and enterprise SaaS customers. The role owns programs that create expansion pipeline, including self-serve-to-enterprise upgrades, cross-sell, upsell, targeted nurtures, and sales-ready offers. It also leads lifecycle adoption programs, customer segmentation, advocacy initiatives, case studies, review generation, customer events, and a Customer Advisory Board. Success is measured primarily through sourced and influenced expansion pipeline, alongside product adoption and advocacy outcomes. This remote US role requires working East Coast hours and close partnership with Sales, Customer Success, Product Marketing, Campaigns, Demand Generation, and Marketing Operations.

Sample interview questions
I would begin by analyzing pilot performance by account profile, product usage, intent signals, conversion stage, and sales follow-up outcomes. I would define high-propensity segments, develop tailored upgrade messages and offers, automate trigger-based journeys, and establish a clear sales handoff process. I would then use pipeline sourced, pipeline influenced, conversion rate, and sales-cycle velocity to iteratively improve the program.
I would combine CRM attributes, contract and renewal data, product-usage signals, support trends, customer-health indicators, and engagement data. The model would distinguish adoption needs, expansion propensity, advocacy readiness, and risk indicators. I would validate the scoring logic with CS and Sales teams, operationalize it in the marketing automation platform, and regularly compare scores with actual outcomes to refine the model.
The primary metrics would be sourced and influenced expansion pipeline, closed-won expansion revenue, upgrade conversion rate, and account engagement by segment. For adoption, I would monitor activation, feature usage, webinar participation, and progression to customer-defined value milestones. For advocacy, I would track case studies, reference availability, review volume and quality, referral activity, and event participation.
I would retain a common strategic framework and reusable program architecture while adapting messaging, proof points, timing, channels, language needs, and event formats to local audiences. I would work with regional sales and customer-facing teams to identify market-specific objections and expansion opportunities. Performance would be reported by region so that localization decisions are based on pipeline and adoption outcomes rather than assumptions.
I would define the board's purpose, target member profiles, executive sponsorship, meeting cadence, and feedback mechanisms before recruiting a balanced group of strategic customers. Each session would have clear topics tied to product direction, messaging, and customer experience, with pre-reads and documented actions afterward. I would close the loop with members by sharing how their feedback informed decisions, which strengthens participation and advocacy over time.
About this role.
CoderPad‘s mission is to create a more inclusive and strong tech community.
How? By improving the technical interviewing experience with tools that allow for standardization and consistency, while reducing bias and increasing equality of opportunity.
As CoderPad’s first customer marketer, you’ll own the customer marketing plan and execute it hands-on. Your job is to turn our installed base into a predictable source of expansion pipeline and a deep bench of customer advocates.
You’ll work across our whole book of mid-market and enterprise sized customers, from self-serve customers ready to move up to Enterprise Plans to large accounts with room to grow, using scaled, one-to-many programs and opportunity to build 1:few programs as we scale. You’ll partner with Expansion Sales, Customer Success, Product Marketing, Campaigns and Demand Gen. This is a builder-and-doer role: you’ll set the strategy and then build, launch, and measure your programs with the support of the team.
This role is required to work East Coast Hours.
You’ll report to the VP of Marketing.
What you’ll be doing:
Drive expansion pipeline
Own the self-serve-to-Enterprise upgrade marketing motion. Take our current pilot and scale what works into an always-on program while continuing to optimize.
Build one-to-many expansion programs for Enterprise customers in partnership with Expansion Sales, including cross-sell and upsell plays, targeted nurtures, and sales-ready offers.
Partner with Campaigns to adapt our major campaigns and launches for customer audiences, so existing customers hear the right story at the right moment.
Give Expansion Sales the timing, messaging, and assets to act on signals from your programs.
Localize expansion and lifecycle programs for EMEA customers, adapting messaging, timing, channels, and events to the region (about 15% of your effort).
Fuel adoption with Customer Success and Product Marketing
Build lifecycle programs that support CS in getting customers to value: onboarding and feature-adoption email, customer webinars, and launch communications.
Work with Product Marketing to turn new features into customer-facing campaigns that drive usage.
Design lifecycle journeys and build them in our marketing automation platform, working with Marketing Ops on complex builds and attribution.
Build the customer data foundation with Marketing Ops and CS: the segments and scores that decide who gets which program, and when.
Build our advocacy engine
Create and run our customer advocacy program that provides speakers for events, case studies, customer references and referrals.
Produce customer case studies and stories.
Drive a review program on G2 and similar sites to strengthen our position against competitors.
Run customer events and our Customer Advisory Board
Launch and run a Customer Advisory Board that brings customer insight into product, messaging, and strategy.
Plan customer-focused events and user groups.
How we’ll measure success
Expansion pipeline (primary): pipeline sourced and influenced by your programs, tracked separately for self-serve upgrades and Enterprise expansion.
Adoption impact (shared with CS and product marketing): engagement with adoption programs and the feature activation that follows them.
Advocacy: case studies published, customer availability for speaking and thought leadership activites, and review volume and ratings against plan.
In your first 90 days, you’ll take over the upgrade pilot, define the customer marketing plan for 2027, and partner with sales on driving quick expansion pipeline.
What you should bring:
6+ years in B2B SaaS marketing, with at least 3 years in customer, lifecycle, or expansion marketing.
A track record of owning an expansion pipeline or revenue number, not just engagement metrics.
Experience creating a customer marketing plan and executing it end to end, doing the hands-on work yourself.
Experience partnering with Ops and CS to build customer segments and scores. You understand how product usage, CRM, and CS data combine to target the right accounts at the right moment.
Experience running advocacy programs: case studies, references, reviews, or advisory boards.
Credibility with sales and CS leaders, and the ability to turn their input into programs that ship.
Comfort with data. You can define the metrics, work with Ops on attribution, and explain what’s working.
Strong writing and a feel for what resonates with customers.
