Nebius is hiring a senior or staff-level Application Security Engineer to secure its AI cloud platform and public infrastructure offerings. The role owns application security posture management, Secure SDLC practices, threat modeling, vulnerability management, and security-tool automation in CI/CD pipelines. The engineer will partner closely with development teams, improve SAST and secrets-detection rules, and establish practical secure-coding guidance. Candidates need at least six years of application-security experience, strong OWASP knowledge, coding ability in Go or Python, and hands-on experience with tools such as Burp Suite, ZAP, and Semgrep. This is a high-impact remote role for Europe with substantial technical ownership in a fast-moving cloud and AI environment.

Sample interview questions
I would first inventory applications, repositories, owners, data sensitivity, and internet exposure. I would integrate normalized findings from SAST, SCA, secrets scanning, container scanning, and runtime sources, then define risk-based prioritization using exploitability, exposure, and asset criticality. Finally, I would establish ownership workflows, remediation SLAs, dashboards, and feedback loops to reduce recurring vulnerabilities.
I would baseline the tool against representative repositories, triage recurring findings with engineers, and tune rules using language- and framework-aware context. Suppressions should be narrowly scoped, documented, time-bound where appropriate, and reviewed. I would track precision, remediation rates, and escaped defects so rule changes are evidence-based.
I would identify the system boundaries, assets, trust zones, identities, entry points, and dependencies first. With the product and engineering teams, I would evaluate threats such as tenant isolation failures, privilege escalation, exposed control-plane APIs, compromised images, secret leakage, and supply-chain risks. I would then prioritize mitigations, assign owners, document residual risks, and revisit the model as architecture changes.
I would include pre-commit secret detection, SAST, dependency and license scanning, infrastructure-as-code checks, container image scanning, artifact signing, and policy gates based on severity and exploitability. Controls should provide fast developer feedback and avoid blocking delivery for low-confidence findings. I would also ensure traceability from build artifacts to source commits and deployed environments.
I would validate scope and exploitability quickly, engage the incident-response and service-owner teams, and apply immediate containment such as configuration changes, access restrictions, or feature disablement. Next, I would coordinate a tested fix and deployment, verify remediation across affected environments, and communicate status to stakeholders. After resolution, I would lead a blameless review to address root cause, detection gaps, and preventive controls.
