The role, at a glance.
AlertMedia is hiring a Product Manager to own strategy, discovery, roadmap prioritization, delivery, and measurement for emerging AI capabilities in its risk intelligence and response platform. The role requires continuous customer research with security, safety, business continuity, IT, and operations personas, then translating validated problems into executable product increments. The Product Manager will partner closely with Engineering, Design, Product Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Support while using AI tools to prototype and test concepts quickly. Candidates need at least three years of B2B enterprise software product-management experience plus familiarity with AI-native products, APIs, integrations, analytics, and Agile delivery. This is a remote US role, with Austin-based candidates preferred and exclusions for residents of specified states.

Sample interview questions
I would begin with customer interviews and workflow observations to identify high-frequency, high-consequence manual steps. I would assess user impact, business value, technical feasibility, data availability, reliability risks, and operational guardrails, then document the trade-offs in a prioritization framework. I would validate the leading concept with a lightweight prototype before committing substantial engineering capacity.
I ask what outcome the customer is trying to achieve, what triggers the work, which steps are difficult, who is involved, and how success is measured. I separate the requested solution from the underlying pain, compare the finding across other customers and usage data, and write a concise problem statement with target users, context, constraints, and measurable desired outcomes.
Before launch, I would define leading and lagging indicators such as activation, repeat usage, workflow-completion rate, time saved, response reliability, override or error rates, customer satisfaction, retention signals, and revenue impact where applicable. I would instrument the workflow, establish a baseline, segment results by customer and use case, and use the findings to refine or reconsider the investment.
I make ambiguity visible early by aligning the team on the user problem, workflow, assumptions, constraints, and acceptance criteria. I encourage small prototypes or technical spikes for the highest-risk unknowns, break the work into releasable increments, and make prompt scope decisions so uncertainty does not become late-stage rework.
I would identify where incorrect output could cause operational harm and design for human review, clear confidence signals, auditability, role-based access, data privacy, and safe fallback paths. I would also test representative failure modes, monitor quality after launch, and avoid presenting generated outputs as authoritative when the model lacks reliable grounding.
About this role.
Do work that matters.
At AlertMedia, we help organizations protect their people, operations, and brand. Our modern Risk Intelligence and Response platform empowers teams to detect emerging threats, assess impact, and respond with confidence. We believe building resilience should be simpler—and it starts with bringing critical information and workflows together in one unified platform.
Our core values drive us in our important mission of keeping people safe & informed:
- We’re humans not robots
- Customers always come first
- We work better together
- Simplicity is our strength
- Our reputation is priceless
- Hard work pays off
As one of the fastest growing SaaS start-up companies in the nation, we’re focused on finding the best talent and building the best team to continue accelerating our rapid growth to keep up with our demand.
Who You Are:
As an AlertMedia Product Manager you will have a primary role in setting the vision for our products while also playing an integral part in the day-to-day activities to make the vision a reality. Every day you’ll employ your ability to move smoothly between cross-functional teams, inspiring, learning and leading. Time with customers will be one of your best sources of improvements and new feature ideas. Best of all, you’ll be part of AlertMedia’s amazing culture and an important contributor to our rapid growth.
You are passionate about your products, and maybe even a little obsessive. You see both the forest AND the trees. You are energetic, empathic and earnest. Collaborating with people across different functions comes naturally to you. You are known for your willingness to share information and having no ego. You refuse to give up when the path isn’t clear.
When a critical event unfolds, the hard part is rarely knowing that something happened — it is understanding the impact and coordinating the many steps, people, and systems that have to move in the right order, quickly, and often all at once. AlertMedia is transforming how organizations use AI and data to turn response into action, and this role will lead that effort.
What You Get To Do Every Day:
Customer and Market Understanding
- Develop deep expertise in the personas we serve — security, safety, business continuity, IT, and operations leaders, and the responders who execute when something goes wrong — including how their work is structured, staffed, measured, and escalated.
- Interview customers and prospects continuously. Run discovery conversations, workflow walk-throughs, and feedback sessions that produce specific problem statements rather than feature requests.
- Maintain a clear, current view of the problems we solve well today, the opportunities to solve problems better, and the problems we should be solving 12 to 24 months from now.
- Track industry trends, the automation and AI landscape, platform and integration changes, and the competitive field, and translate them into implications for our roadmap.
Strategy, Prioritization, and Roadmap Ownership
- Own the roadmap for new AI capabilities: decide what we build, what we defer, and what we decline, with reasoning that stands up to scrutiny.
- Shape the strategy and positioning for a product that is still being defined and build the case for where it should go next.
- Balance business objectives, customer needs, and industry trends when sequencing work, and make the tradeoffs explicit to stakeholders.
- Define the problem sets and jobs to be done that anchor each initiative, so the team understands the outcome before it debates the solution.
Working With Development and Design
- Partner with Engineering and Design to translate customer problems into specifications, acceptance criteria, and deliverable milestones the team can execute against.
- Break large initiatives into releasable increments that produce customer value early and inform what comes next.
- Stay close through delivery — grooming, scope decisions, testing, and launch readiness — and resolve ambiguity before it becomes rework.
Prototyping With AI Tooling
- Use AI development and design tools such as Claude Code, Claude Design, and Codex to build working prototypes, pressure-test concepts, and put something tangible in front of customers in days rather than quarters.
- Treat prototypes as a research method: use them to invalidate weak ideas inexpensively and to sharpen strong ones before Engineering commits.
- Bring that fluency to the wider product team and raise the bar for how quickly we can move from idea to evidence.
Measurement
- Define what success looks like before launch — adoption, time saved, workflow completion, reliability, retention impact, revenue contribution — and instrument for it.
- Analyze product usage data and customer outcomes after release, report honestly on what worked and what did not, and feed those findings into the next round of prioritization.
Go-To-Market Enablement
- Work with Product Marketing to position new capabilities, shape messaging, and equip Sales, Customer Success, and Support to sell and support them with confidence.
- Translate product functionality into narratives and practical applications that customer-facing teams can use in real conversations.
- Lead internal training, demos, and Q&A sessions so the organization understands not just what shipped but why it matters to the people who use it.
What You Bring To The Role:
Required
- 3+ years of product management experience in B2B enterprise software, including owning a product or major product area end to end — discovery, delivery, and measurement.
- Experience leading an established or emerging product or major capability: iterating and evolving a product to fit ever-changing market needs.
- Prior experience working on agentic and/or AI-native products — workflow automation, interactive assistants, integration platforms, agentic tooling, or similar.
- A working understanding of how AI and LLM-based capabilities are designed into products, including where they add leverage and where they need guardrails.
- A systems mindset — you naturally think in terms of workflows, dependencies, triggers, and how the pieces of a process fit together.
- Strong analytical judgment and comfort making decisions from incomplete or conflicting information.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to hold a technical conversation with Engineering and a strategic one with an executive on the same day.
- Comfort with tools like Jira, Confluence, and product analytics software.
- A collaborative, no-ego approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Resourcefulness — you keep going when the path is not clear.
- Energetic, empathetic, and earnest, with a consistent record of delivering quality work on schedule.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery, APIs, system integrations, and data pipelines.
- Experience in critical event management, emergency communication, security, safety, or business continuity, or with the teams that run them, is a plus.
- Experience with product enablement or go-to-market support.
Location: Strong preference for Austin, TX candidates, but open to remote US based candidates. Please note that we currently do not hire candidates residing in the following states: Alaska, California, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
