Sample interview questions
I would explain how I mapped stakeholders, identified unmet business needs, built a joint account plan, and positioned complementary products against measurable customer outcomes. I would quantify the expansion, sales-cycle length, and retention impact.
I tailor the message to each audience: business leaders receive a value case tied to revenue, cost, risk, or customer experience, while technical teams receive an architecture-focused discussion of integration, security, reliability, and implementation. I then align both groups around a shared success plan.
I use account potential, propensity to buy, renewal timing, stakeholder access, deal stage, and implementation readiness to rank opportunities. I maintain clear next steps and mutual action plans while protecting time for high-impact expansion motions.
I would describe preparing with clear deal objectives, understanding the customer's decision criteria, and trading rather than simply conceding on price. I would show how I used term length, product scope, adoption milestones, or services to reach an agreement that benefited both parties.
I would learn the assigned accounts, review product adoption and commercial history, meet internal account stakeholders, and establish executive and technical relationships with customers. I would identify account risks and expansion hypotheses, then create prioritized account plans with concrete customer outcomes and next steps.
