Sample interview questions
How would you design a global commercial and privacy legal framework that increases deal velocity without weakening risk controls?

I would start by segmenting transactions and privacy reviews by risk, value, jurisdiction, and regulatory exposure. I would establish standardized playbooks, fallback positions, approval thresholds, intake workflows, and clear escalation paths, then measure cycle time, deviations, and risk concentration to continuously improve the system.

Describe your approach to negotiating a high-stakes cross-border enterprise agreement involving data protection requirements.

I first align with business, security, product, and privacy stakeholders on the commercial objective and non-negotiable risk boundaries. I then address data-processing terms, transfer mechanisms, security obligations, liability, audit rights, sub-processors, and regulatory requirements in an integrated negotiation strategy that preserves both compliance and a practical path to close.

How have you advised executive leadership on material legal risk when business priorities were urgent?

I present concise options rather than only identifying problems: the legal and commercial implications, likelihood and impact, mitigations, and my recommendation. This allows executives to make informed decisions quickly while ensuring that major risks, residual exposure, and accountability are clearly documented.

What is your strategy for embedding privacy by design into AI-enabled products?

I would establish a cross-functional governance process involving Product, Engineering, Security, and Legal from initial design through release. The process should cover data mapping, purpose limitation, model and vendor assessments, transparency, retention, cross-border transfers, security controls, impact assessments, and ongoing monitoring for regulatory and product changes.

How would you develop a multi-jurisdictional legal team while remaining personally involved in strategic work?

I would define clear ownership, service levels, decision rights, and development plans for legal leaders, supported by consistent playbooks and operational metrics. I would reserve direct involvement for high-value, novel, or strategically sensitive matters while coaching leaders to make decisions independently within established risk frameworks.
