Sample interview questions
I would begin with structured discovery across developers, security leaders, enterprise buyers, support data, and product telemetry. I would map the core jobs to be done, identify friction across onboarding, integration, administration, and expansion, then align the highest-value opportunities with technical feasibility and company goals. The output would be a prioritized roadmap, a decision framework, and a small set of measurable north-star and leading metrics.
I make the trade-off explicit by assessing customer segment impact, strategic fit, revenue potential, urgency, technical cost, operational risk, and opportunity cost. I communicate the decision and assumptions clearly, seek the smallest test that reduces uncertainty, and revisit priorities when evidence changes. This preserves speed without allowing the roadmap to become a list of disconnected requests.
I would track activation through time to first secret, successful environment or application integrations, and completion of key setup flows. For ongoing value, I would monitor active organizations, active projects, secrets and integrations under management, feature adoption, retention, expansion, reliability, and support signals. Metrics would be segmented by developer, team, and enterprise use cases so product decisions reflect meaningful user behavior rather than aggregate activity alone.
I would first understand willingness to pay across individual developers, growing teams, and enterprise security buyers, including the value drivers behind each segment. I would protect a useful open-source entry point while packaging collaboration, governance, scale, compliance, advanced access controls, and enterprise support around differentiated paid value. I would validate changes with customer research, usage data, competitive analysis, and controlled rollout experiments.
For engineering, I provide the problem definition, user evidence, constraints, intended outcome, decision rationale, and success measures while leaving appropriate space for technical design. For sales and marketing, I translate the same decision into customer problems solved, target users, differentiation, limitations, and practical messaging. Shared written documentation and regular cross-functional reviews keep both groups aligned as implementation and market feedback evolve.
About this role.
Infisical is the open source security infrastructure platform that engineers use for secrets management, certificates, and privileged access management. We help developers and organizations securely manage billions of secrets every month including application configuration, database credentials, certificates, and more.
We’ve raised $19M from Y Combinator, Google, and Elad Gil, and our customers include Hugging Face, OpenRouter, LG, and NVIDIA.
Join us on a mission to make security easier for all developers — starting with secrets management. We’re looking to hire exceptional talent to join us in building the open source security infrastructure stack for the AI era.
About the role
We’re looking for a Founding Product Manager to help shape the future of Infisical’s platform. As our first Product Manager, you’ll take ownership of our Secrets Management product line, working closely with engineering and the founders to define product strategy, accelerate innovation, and build a product that developers love.
This is a highly technical, hands-on role for someone who combines strong engineering judgment with exceptional product taste. You’ll have the opportunity to establish the foundations of our product function, drive meaningful improvements to a platform used by developers and enterprises, and expand your scope across product lines like Infisical PKI and Infisical PAM as we grow.
You’ll work closely with our founders, engineering, sales, and marketing to:
Own the product strategy and roadmap for Secrets Management, making informed trade-offs between customer needs, technical complexity, and business impact to help us build and ship the right things quickly.
Work directly with customers to understand pain points, identify opportunities, and translate insights into product improvements that drive adoption, retention, and expansion.
Define product metrics, establish analytics and tracking infrastructure, and use data to guide product decisions and measure the impact of what you ship.
Own product pricing and packaging, helping determine how we monetize the platform and how features are structured across different tiers.
Develop a deep understanding of the developer tools and infrastructure landscape, continuously evaluating the user experience and competitive environment to inform product direction.
Partner with engineering, sales, and marketing to bring products to market, shape technical messaging, and enable our go-to-market teams to effectively communicate product value.
Requirements
Strong technical background, ideally with previous software engineering experience and a deep understanding of developer tools, APIs, infrastructure, and software architecture.
Proven experience owning and scaling a product surface in a Product Management capacity, with a track record of delivering measurable product and business impact.
Strong product judgment and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively, make decisions with incomplete information, and translate customer insights and business goals into a clear roadmap.
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to customers and internal teams.
A bias toward action and high ownership, with the ability to operate independently, move quickly, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
A tech-forward mindset, with a willingness to get hands-on with technical work, experiment with AI tools, and continuously explore new approaches to solving product and engineering problems.
Nice to have
Experience owning pricing and packaging for a software product.
Experience building or scaling developer tools, infrastructure, or security products.
Experience with open-source or open-core products and an understanding of the needs of both individual developers and enterprise customers.
Experience with product analytics, data instrumentation, and building dashboards to measure product performance.
