Sample interview questions
I start with a baseline across conversion, pipeline coverage, win rate, and activity quality, then use call reviews and deal inspections to identify the specific behavior limiting results. I set a focused development plan with observable actions, practice sessions, and weekly checkpoints. In a previous role, this approach improved qualified-opportunity conversion by strengthening discovery and mutual action planning.
I would use a consistent inspection framework covering qualification, stakeholder map, business pain, decision process, competition, next steps, close plan, and forecast category. MEDDICC would guide inspection depth based on deal complexity, while CRM data would be used to identify stalled opportunities and coverage gaps. The goal is to improve deal quality and forecast accuracy, not simply collect status updates.
I reserve recurring time for one-on-ones, coaching, hiring, and forecast management, while joining customer calls only where I can materially improve strategy or accelerate an important deal. I make my involvement instructional by debriefing calls with the representative and assigning clear follow-up ownership. This keeps the manager close to the market without taking deals away from the team.
I would establish clear rules of engagement for account ownership, qualification thresholds, handoffs, follow-up expectations, and feedback loops. Shared pipeline reviews and agreed service-level expectations help ensure that outbound, inbound, and event-generated leads receive coordinated attention. I would measure both conversion through the handoff and downstream pipeline contribution to reinforce joint accountability.
I separate effort from effectiveness by reviewing conversion at each funnel stage, call quality, account selection, and deal progression. I then create a time-bound improvement plan focused on the highest-leverage gap, such as discovery, value messaging, or next-step control, with frequent coaching and measurable milestones. If the representative does not improve despite clear support and accountability, I would address performance directly and follow the appropriate process.
About this role.
MaintainX is a leading mobile-first work execution platform for industrial and frontline teams. More than 13,000 customers, including Duracell, McDonald’s, Shell, DHL and Volvo, use MaintainX to cut unplanned downtime and run better operations, across 13.9 million managed assets and 79.5 million completed work orders.
In August 2026 MaintainX became part of Autodesk, joining Autodesk Operations Solutions, the organization unifying Autodesk’s operations platform alongside Tandem, FlexSim and Fusion Operations. Autodesk’s strategy is to converge design, make and operate into one continuous lifecycle: design an asset, build it, run it, then feed what you learn running it back into the next design. Autodesk had design and make. Operate is the phase that tells you what actually happened, and it is ours.
We’re hiring a Manager, Inside Sales to lead a team of 5-6 ISRs, coach them into strong closers, and help build this function from the ground up. You’ll be a player-coach: close enough to the work to join calls and unblock deals, and accountable for the team’s pipeline, bookings, and renewals.
What you’ll do
Lead, coach, and develop Enterprise ISRs through regular one-on-ones, call reviews, deal coaching, and performance conversations.
Build individual development plans that strengthen discovery, business-value messaging, product demonstrations, negotiation, and closing.
Reinforce MEDDICC and Command of the Message at a level appropriate to each opportunity’s size and complexity
Run consistent pipeline reviews and maintain accurate forecasts
Partner with Revenue Operations, Enablement, Marketing, and Customer Success to improve routing, onboarding, handoffs, and expansion execution
Align the team with Field Account Executives so outbound prospecting, inbound follow-up, and event follow-up turn into pipeline
Hire, onboard, and ramp new reps; prepare top performers for progression into Field AE roles; and build a culture grounded in accountability, curiosity, collaboration, and ownership.
What we’re looking for
5+ years of SaaS or tech sales experience, including closing, with 1-2 years leading or formally mentoring reps (team lead, senior ISR/AE, or first-time manager ready to step up)
A track record of coaching reps to measurable improvement in pipeline, conversion, or attainment
Comfort running a data-driven sales cadence in a CRM (Salesforce or similar) and using forecasting and call-intelligence tools
Clear, confident written and verbal communication, and the credibility to coach through live deals
Experience working alongside field sales or account executives
Nice to have: experience selling to manufacturing, industrial, or maintenance audiences
Our mission is to keep the physical world running. Factories, fleets, hospitals and campuses stay up because the people who maintain them have tools worth using. That is what we build.
