Sample interview questions
I start with a data-based review of pipeline coverage, stage conversion, deal quality, rep activity, and forecast accuracy. I then establish focused coaching plans for each rep, inspect strategic opportunities weekly, remove cross-functional blockers, and track leading indicators alongside revenue outcomes. This approach creates accountability while addressing the specific skills or process gaps limiting performance.
I validate measurable outcomes, identify the economic buyer, map the decision and paper processes, surface decision criteria, and build relationships with internal champions. In higher education, I also account for committee governance, procurement cycles, security review, and distributed stakeholder groups. I use those findings to build a mutual action plan and maintain an evidence-based forecast.
I coach through deal reviews that focus on customer outcomes rather than rep updates. We assess stakeholder coverage, discovery quality, competitive position, risks, next steps, and the value case, then agree on a small number of concrete actions. I combine real-time deal support with recurring skill development so the team becomes more self-sufficient over time.
I use consistent qualification criteria, inspect evidence behind stage progression, and separate commit, best-case, and pipeline views. I compare rep forecasts with historical conversion rates and current deal risks, then document actions required to improve confidence. Regular forecast calibration improves both accuracy and coaching quality.
I align the internal account team early around the customer’s business value, commercial objectives, concessions, and non-negotiables. I ensure executive sponsors are engaged at the right moments and keep legal and procurement conversations connected to an agreed mutual close plan. Throughout the process, I protect long-term customer value while maintaining disciplined pricing and deal governance.
