Sample interview questions
Describe a time you translated an executive strategy into a cross-functional operating plan.

I would begin by clarifying the strategic outcome, decision rights, constraints, and success metrics with the executive sponsor. I would then create a sequenced plan with accountable owners, dependencies, risks, and an operating cadence for reviewing progress. Throughout execution, I would elevate tradeoffs early and provide concise leadership updates focused on decisions needed rather than activity summaries.

How would you improve an executive leadership team's planning and OKR process?

I would first assess whether objectives are linked to the company strategy, measurable, and supported by clear ownership. I would introduce a consistent planning calendar, standard templates, dependency reviews, and regular health checks that distinguish outcomes from output. The goal would be a lightweight system that improves decision quality and follow-through without adding unnecessary process.

How do you prepare effective materials for a CEO or Board meeting?

I start with the decision or discussion required, then build a concise narrative supported by accurate metrics, context, options, and a clear recommendation. I validate facts and assumptions with accountable leaders, anticipate likely questions, and remove detail that does not change the decision. Before the meeting, I ensure owners are aligned on key messages and next steps.

Give an example of how you would identify and manage risks across multiple strategic initiatives.

I would maintain an integrated view of initiatives, milestones, resource constraints, and cross-team dependencies. I would use regular stakeholder conversations and dashboard indicators to identify emerging risks, then classify them by impact, likelihood, and urgency. For material risks, I would recommend mitigation options and bring the appropriate tradeoff to leadership promptly.

How do you influence senior leaders when you do not have direct authority?

I build credibility through preparation, impartial analysis, reliability, and a strong understanding of each leader's priorities. I frame recommendations around company outcomes and evidence, make tradeoffs explicit, and create space for productive disagreement. Once a decision is made, I document ownership and commitments so that alignment converts into execution.
