Sample interview questions
I would begin with discovery: site layout, threat model, existing infrastructure, operational workflows, compliance needs, and budget. I would then map those requirements to a scalable architecture, explain integrations and limitations clearly, and validate the design through a demonstration or proof of concept before finalizing the proposal.
I would tailor the session to the audience's baseline knowledge and combine product positioning with hands-on configuration and troubleshooting exercises. I would cover installation standards, network considerations, common faults, and escalation paths, then confirm understanding through practical scenarios and follow-up materials.
Key factors include coverage objectives, lighting conditions, camera placement, retention requirements, bandwidth, storage capacity, cybersecurity, power availability, and integration with access or intrusion systems. I would also account for future expansion and ensure the design is practical for installation and maintenance.
I align early on roles and desired commercial outcomes. The account manager leads the relationship and commercial process, while I lead technical discovery, solution validation, demonstrations, and responses to technical objections; we communicate regularly so the customer receives one consistent message.
I would avoid jargon and start with the operational impact rather than the underlying technology. Using a simple diagram, practical examples, and clear options with trade-offs helps stakeholders make an informed decision, and I confirm understanding by asking them to describe the preferred outcome in their own words.
