Sample interview questions
How would you position Stripe's fraud and risk products to an enterprise prospect that already uses a competing solution?

I would first quantify the prospect's fraud, dispute, approval-rate, operational-efficiency, and customer-experience priorities. I would map those needs to Stripe's differentiated capabilities, validate value through relevant data and use cases, and build a mutual action plan involving technical and executive sponsors. The discussion would focus on measurable business outcomes rather than feature comparisons alone.

Describe how you manage a complex enterprise sales cycle with technical, commercial, and executive stakeholders.

I establish stakeholder maps, decision criteria, a documented buying process, and clear owners for every workstream early in the cycle. I coordinate internal product, engineering, legal, and account resources around a mutual close plan, while regularly validating risks and next steps with the customer. This creates alignment without losing momentum in long, multi-party negotiations.

What metrics would you use to demonstrate the value of a fraud-prevention solution?

I would assess fraud-loss reduction, authorization or approval-rate improvement, dispute and chargeback rates, false-positive reduction, manual-review volume, operational cost, and customer conversion impact. The appropriate baseline and target depend on the customer's business model, risk tolerance, and payment mix. I would turn these measures into a clear business case and success plan.

How would you handle customer feedback that identifies a significant product gap?

I would clarify the use case, severity, affected workflows, commercial impact, and whether a workaround exists. I would communicate the finding to the appropriate internal teams with structured evidence, avoiding commitments that have not been approved. I would then keep the customer informed, align on an interim plan, and use the feedback to improve future product and sales strategy.

Tell us how you approach a bespoke commercial negotiation with a strategic customer.

I prepare by understanding the customer's value drivers, alternatives, procurement process, risk concerns, and non-negotiables. I partner early with internal legal, finance, and leadership stakeholders to define acceptable trade-offs, then negotiate around mutual value rather than isolated price concessions. Throughout the process, I protect the long-term relationship and confirm that every concession advances a clear commercial objective.
