You’ll equip the team with compelling stories, visual communications, donor experiences, and campaigns that help funders understand the difference their partnership makes and inspire them to deepen their investment. The role owns a portfolio spanning fundraising collateral and asset management, cultivation and stewardship events, and seasonal fundraising, including end-of-year giving.

This is a highly autonomous building role that combines strategic ownership with hands-on execution. You’ll lead complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives from concept through execution, and build the systems, templates, and AI-enabled workflows that make recurring fundraising communications faster and more consistent. Success requires moving quickly in a fast-paced, evolving organization, translating data and stories into compelling visual communications, and continuously improving how the team plans and executes events and campaigns.

Sample interview questions
Describe a donor cultivation or stewardship event you led from planning through follow-up.

I would explain the event objective, audience segmentation, messaging, agenda, stakeholder roles, logistics, and post-event follow-up plan. I would also share measurable engagement outcomes, such as attendance, meetings secured, donor feedback, or subsequent gifts.

How do you turn program data and participant stories into persuasive fundraising communications?

I start by identifying the audience and desired action, then pair a clear outcome metric with a specific human story. I use a simple narrative structure, concise proof points, and on-brand visual hierarchy so the material is emotionally resonant while remaining credible and easy to scan.

What AI-enabled workflow have you created to improve communications production?

I have used AI to create structured first drafts, repurpose approved narratives for different audiences, and generate content outlines from standardized inputs. I maintain human review for accuracy, voice, confidentiality, and brand quality, while documenting prompts and processes so the workflow is repeatable.

How would you prioritize simultaneous requests for an annual report, a major donor event, and an end-of-year giving campaign?

I would establish deadlines, fundraising impact, dependencies, and decision owners for each workstream, then build a visible project plan with milestones and approval dates. I would protect critical-path work, use templates or delegated production for repeatable tasks, and communicate trade-offs early when priorities conflict.

How do you evaluate whether a seasonal digital giving campaign was successful?

I would measure revenue, donor count, average gift size, conversion rate, email and landing-page engagement, acquisition cost where applicable, and donor retention or upgrade indicators. I would compare results with prior campaigns and audience segments, then document insights to improve targeting, messaging, and the donor journey.
