About ElevenLabs

ElevenLabs is an AI research and product company transforming how we interact with technology.

We launched in January 2023 with the first human-like AI voice model. Today, we serve millions of users and thousands of businesses – from fast-growing startups to large enterprises like Deutsche Telekom and Meta. Our investors are some of the world’s most prominent, including Andreessen Horowitz, ICONIQ Growth and Sequoia. We’ve raised $781M in funding and our last valuation was $22B – multiples of 11, always.

We have expanded from voice into three main platforms:

  • ElevenAgents enables businesses to deliver seamless and intelligent customer experiences, with the integrations, testing, monitoring, and reliability necessary to deploy voice and chat agents at scale.

  • ElevenCreative empowers creators and marketers to generate and edit speech, music, image, and video across 70+ languages.

  • ElevenAPI gives developers access to our leading AI audio foundational models.

Everything we do is the result of the creativity and commitment of our team – builders doing the best work of their lives. We are researchers, engineers, and operators. IOI medalists and ex-founders. If you want to work hard and create lasting positive impact, we want to hear from you.

How we work

  • High-velocity: Rapid experimentation, lean autonomous teams, and minimal bureaucracy.

  • Impact not job titles: We don’t have job titles. Instead, it’s about the impact you have. No task is above or beneath you.

  • AI first: We use AI to move faster with higher-quality results. We do this across the whole company—from engineering to growth to operations.

  • Excellence everywhere: Everything we do should match the quality of our AI models.

  • Global team: We prioritize your talent, not your location.

What we offer

  • Innovative culture: You’ll be part of a generational opportunity to define the trajectory of AI, surrounded by a team pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

  • Growth paths: Joining ElevenLabs means joining a dynamic team with countless opportunities to drive impact – beyond your immediate role and responsibilities.

  • Learning & development: ElevenLabs proactively supports professional development through an annual discretionary stipend.

  • Social travel: We also provide an annual discretionary stipend to meet up with colleagues each year, however you choose.

  • Annual team offsite: Each year, we bring your entire team together in a new location – past offsites have included Croatia, Italy and Cancún

  • Co-working: If you’re not located near one of our main hubs, we offer a monthly co-working stipend.

About the role

We’re looking for an Android Engineer to join our growing mobile team and build the Creative App (Android), bringing our audio AI to millions of users. You’ll ship features that integrate tightly with our AI-driven audio models, and work out where focused bets or incremental improvements will move the product most.

You’re impact-driven and autonomous, and good at drawing clear conclusions from experimental results. You’ll work closely with design, product and research, and help shape the app’s architecture and technical direction.

Requirements

  • Strong native Android development (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose) with a track record of shipping features that improved engagement

  • Have designed and run A/B tests, using data to decide what to build next

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and fast-changing priorities, and able to add structure where it’s needed

  • Experience owning performance, quality and responsiveness in a production app

Bonus

  • Experience with audio playback or streaming on Android

  • Experience building mobile infrastructure for build, test and release pipelines

Location

This role is remote-first, so it can be executed from anywhere, with the ability to operate in GMT to GMT+4 timezones preferred. If you prefer, you can work from our offices in London, Warsaw, Dublin, Amsterdam and Paris.

Sample interview questions
How have you used A/B testing to decide which Android feature to prioritize?

I start by defining a measurable hypothesis, target audience, primary success metric, and guardrail metrics such as retention or crash rate. I implement reliable event instrumentation, validate experiment exposure, and evaluate statistical and qualitative results before recommending whether to scale, iterate, or stop the feature.

How would you structure a Kotlin and Jetpack Compose app that integrates AI-driven audio features?

I would use a layered architecture with clear UI, domain, and data boundaries, state managed through ViewModels and unidirectional data flow, and interfaces around audio and model-service integrations. This keeps Compose screens testable, allows asynchronous streaming states to be handled predictably, and makes performance-sensitive components easier to profile and evolve.

What steps would you take to improve responsiveness in a production Android app?

I would first measure startup time, frame timing, network behavior, and memory use with Android profiling tools and production telemetry. I would then prioritize high-impact changes such as reducing unnecessary recompositions, moving work off the main thread, optimizing image and audio buffering, and validating improvements with benchmarks and real-user metrics.

Describe how you handle ambiguous requirements and rapidly changing priorities.

I clarify the desired customer outcome, identify assumptions and constraints, and propose a small, measurable first release. I communicate trade-offs early, document decisions briefly, and use results from the release to determine the next iteration rather than overbuilding before learning from users.

How would you ensure a reliable Android build, test, and release pipeline?

I would automate unit, integration, and UI tests in CI; enforce linting and static analysis; and produce reproducible signed builds. For releases, I would use staged rollout, crash and performance monitoring, feature flags, and a rollback plan so issues can be detected and contained quickly.
