About this role.
About Nebius:
Nebius is leading a new era in cloud infrastructure for the global AI economy. We are building a full-stack AI cloud platform that supports developers and enterprises from data and model training through to production deployment, without the cost and complexity of building large in-house AI/ML infrastructure.
Built by engineers, for engineers. From large-scale GPU orchestration to inference optimization, we own the hard problems across compute, storage, networking and applied AI.
Listed on Nasdaq (NBIS) and headquartered in Amsterdam, we have a global footprint with R&D hubs across Europe, the UK, North America and Israel. Our team of 1,500+ includes hundreds of engineers with deep expertise across hardware, software and AI R&D.
The role
Nebius is building next-generation AI infrastructure at scale. We are looking for a Field Technical Lead to drive on-site execution of new data center deployments, leading technical teams and contractors while ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery. This position requires frequent travel to data centers during key deployment phases. The person in this role can be located anywhere in the EU but must be available for regular travel to data center deployments around EU/UK.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Technically lead on-site deployment of GPU-based compute clusters, storage systems, and high-speed networking in data centers.
- Support Project Managers in planning, coordinating, and tracking project delivery activities.
- Organize and supervise contractors, vendors, and internal technical teams to ensure smooth execution of deployment workstreams.
- Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical and operational issues during deployments.
- Maintain clear and accurate project documentation, including deployment plans, risk logs, issue trackers, and acceptance reports.
- Ensure transparent communication with all stakeholders by providing regular status updates, escalating blockers, and managing expectations.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, networking, operations, and supply chain.
- Participate in related project activities such as automation initiatives, process improvements, and post-deployment support when required.
We expect you to have:
- Proactive, ownership-driven leader with the ability to anticipate issues, drive decisions on-site, and lead teams through complex deployments.
- Proven hands-on experience with data center infrastructure deployments, ideally in high-performance computing or AI-focused environments.
- Strong understanding of data center operations including racking, structured cabling, power planning, and cooling considerations.
- Technical knowledge of GPU servers, compute nodes, storage platforms, and high-speed networking technologies.
- Experience working within project delivery frameworks, collaborating closely with Project Managers, and managing subcontractors or vendors.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in on-site, time-critical environments.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to document processes, maintain tracking systems, and produce clear, structured deployment and status reports.
It will be an added bonus if you have:
- Understanding of construction projects structure and key risk factors in facility build-outs.
- Knowledge of HPC
- Experience in business processes design or automation tools development.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or similar industry certifications.
Benefits & Perks:
- Competitive compensation
- Career growth and learning opportunities
- Flexibility and ownership
- Collaborative and innovative culture
- Opportunity to work on impactful AI projects
- International environment and talented teams

Sample interview questions
I would explain the deployment scope, dependencies, technical design, delivery schedule, vendor coordination, installation and validation activities, and the acceptance criteria used to confirm operational readiness. I would also quantify results such as delivery time, rack count, cluster capacity, or reduction in deployment issues.
I first assess safety, service impact, and the affected dependency, then establish containment and assign owners for diagnosis. I communicate a clear status, recovery plan, and timeline to stakeholders, document the issue and decision log, and conduct a post-deployment review to prevent recurrence.
I would verify rack layout, power redundancy and load, structured cabling, cooling capacity, hardware inventory, firmware baselines, network connectivity, storage connectivity, and management-plane access. I would then run agreed functional and performance validation tests and record results against the acceptance checklist.
I establish a detailed work plan with ownership, sequencing, access requirements, safety controls, and acceptance points. I run regular site coordination meetings, track blockers visibly, verify completed work against standards, and escalate risks early when schedule or quality is at risk.
I provide concise, regular updates covering completed work, current status, upcoming milestones, risks, blockers, decisions needed, and mitigation owners. I tailor technical detail to the audience while ensuring that issue trackers, risk logs, and acceptance documents remain current and auditable.
