In this role, you’ll work closely with students to build law school application strategies, refine their personal statements and application essays, prepare for law school interviews, and support them in choosing the right law schools and programs. This is a part-time, remote, 1099 contract role that can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Work one-on-one with prospective law school applicants, helping them strengthen their applicant profile and develop compelling personal statements, application essays, and other application materials
  • Manage relationships with applicants and families while providing strategic and tactical guidance on law school selection, personal statements, application essays, resumes, recommendations, interviews, and the overall law school admissions process
  • Identify optimal law schools and programs for individual students; provide feedback and guidance regarding law school research, admissions resources, and school selection based on each student’s background and goals
  • Support students with project planning, application timeline management, and progress tracking through internal organizational tools
  • Stay up to date on the law school admissions process, admissions trends, and law school programs to advise prospective and existing students on school selection and the nuances of applying to law school

  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple students, deadlines, and application timelines
  • Passion for student mentorship and education

Sample interview questions
How would you help an applicant create a balanced law school list?

I would evaluate the applicant's academic profile, professional and personal background, career goals, geographic preferences, financial considerations, and competitiveness relative to each school's recent admissions patterns. I would then recommend an intentional mix of reach, target, and likely options while explaining the rationale and revisiting it as the application develops.

Describe your approach to editing a law school personal statement.

I start by identifying the applicant's authentic central narrative and the evidence that supports it. I focus on clarity, structure, specificity, voice, and reflection, while ensuring the final essay remains the student's own work and directly supports the overall application strategy.

How do you manage several students with overlapping admissions deadlines?

I establish a detailed milestone plan for every student, including school-list finalization, draft deadlines, recommendation outreach, test planning where relevant, and submission dates. I use a consistent tracking system, set clear response expectations, and proactively flag risks before deadlines become urgent.

What insights from admissions-committee experience would you apply when advising candidates?

Committee experience helps me assess an application holistically rather than treating any one metric as determinative. I would help students present a coherent, credible story across their essays, resume, recommendations, and school choices, while avoiding generic claims or materials that do not add meaningful context.

How would you support an applicant targeting T-14 law schools who has a less conventional background?

I would identify the distinct strengths and perspective in the applicant's background, connect them to demonstrated readiness for legal study, and develop a cohesive narrative without overstating the case. I would also create a realistic strategy that includes strong alternative programs and clear preparation for interviews or follow-up communication.
