Sample interview questions
How have you advised a business on a complex pharmacy regulatory issue involving multiple states?

I would first identify the applicable federal framework and build a state-by-state requirements matrix. I would then translate the legal analysis into operational recommendations, identify risk tiers, and coordinate implementation with licensing, operations, quality, and leadership.

What factors do you evaluate when advising on 503A or 503B compounding requirements?

I assess the facility model, product type, patient-specific prescription requirements, distribution rules, sourcing, labeling, quality controls, and applicable FDA and state requirements. I also identify where state rules may be more restrictive than the federal baseline.

How would you respond to an inquiry from a state Board of Pharmacy or the FDA?

I would promptly preserve relevant information, define the scope of the request, and assemble the appropriate internal stakeholders. I would verify the factual record, prepare an accurate and responsive submission, manage deadlines, and recommend corrective actions where needed.

How do you provide legal guidance in a fast-paced environment without unnecessarily slowing product or operational decisions?

I prioritize issues according to patient safety, regulatory exposure, and business impact, then provide clear options rather than only identifying problems. I communicate the decision-ready recommendation, assumptions, and residual risk so stakeholders can move forward responsibly.

Describe your approach to developing a compliance policy or SOP for pharmacy operations.

I begin by mapping the governing requirements and the current workflow, then work with operational owners to create controls that are practical and auditable. I define ownership, escalation paths, documentation standards, training needs, and a review cadence to keep the policy current as regulations evolve.
