Sample interview questions
How would you help an applicant create a balanced medical-school list?

I would assess the applicant's academic metrics, clinical and service experiences, research, personal goals, geographic preferences, and each program's mission. I would then recommend a balanced mix of reach, target, and likely-fit programs while explaining the rationale and revisiting the list as new information becomes available.

What is your approach to reviewing a medical-school personal statement?

I start by identifying the applicant's authentic motivation for medicine and the narrative thread connecting their experiences. I provide actionable feedback on structure, reflection, clarity, voice, and alignment with the prompt, while ensuring the final writing remains the applicant's own.

How do you manage several students with overlapping application deadlines?

I use a shared milestone plan for each student, tracking deliverables such as school research, activity descriptions, essays, letters, and interview preparation. I prioritize time-sensitive work, communicate expectations early, and use regular check-ins to identify delays before they affect submission quality.

How would your admissions-committee experience influence your coaching?

Committee experience helps me recognize how reviewers interpret academic records, experiences, recommendations, and written materials in context. I use that perspective to help applicants present an accurate, cohesive, and mission-aligned application rather than trying to fit a generic template.

How would you support a student who receives no interview invitations?

I would review the application holistically, including school-list strategy, timing, academic context, activities, writing, and letters where possible. Then I would give direct, compassionate feedback and build a concrete improvement plan for the current cycle or a stronger reapplication cycle.
